This little rascal’s impeccably housetrained, and she can proudly “sit” and “shake” too — the tender loving education her early foster mother invested in her made Darla a pure delight of a family dog! She’s a fun, affectionate, almost one-year-old Doberman mix who exemplifies the loyal companion-dog breeding Dobie’s are known for. Gentle Darla’s black and tan beauty is only outshone by her happy disposition; she adores kids, loves other dogs and thinks cats are great, too. She’s easy to care for and civilized as can be; able to live in almost any home setting, as long as you give her the playtime she needs, and the human commitment she craves. Come meet this young paragon of home-and-family devotion; Darla’s all but done growing, however her heart knows no bounds, and she’s ready to give her unlimited love to you.

Mya is a 10-month-old brown tabby with hypnotic emerald green eyes, who is an affectionate friend to all. Mya can be coy at first, and after she’s had her fun teasing and flirting with you, she’ll quickly thank you for having fun with her. Mya was found as a formerly “lost” cat who wandered up to a home and that person kindly brought her to the animal shelter. It’s hard to believe such a cute, well-mannered and friendly cat would would find herself in such a situation! This cute little girl is spayed and ready to go home today!

Myctophobia begins Fundraising and Pre-Production

Bryan Wolford, from the Drunken Zombie Podcast and director of the short Whispers (see it on youtube) is preparing a new horror short for your entertainment. “Freakwolf Productions is happy to announce that their upcoming short film Myctophobia begins production in February as part of the short film compilation The Collective Volume 4. The theme of all the films on The Collective Volume 4 is emotions. Writer/Director Bryan Wolford was given Fear and while researching different phobias Bryan settled on Myctophobia which is labeled as a Fear of Darkness. He then crafted a story about Kelly who has a fear of the dark and while at home by herself the lights go out. She soon finds herself bombarded by sights and sounds that only strengthen her fear of the dark. Is all of it really happening or only in her head? The Collective Volume 4 is scheduled to premiere at the
Days Of The Dead convention (www.daysofthedead.net) on July 6th -July 8th in Indianapolis, Indiana.

With Myctophobia we want to bring a great atmospheric story to your screen. Sure blood and guts are fun sometimes but we want our viewers to feel Kelly’s dread in their stomachs. We will prove that you don’t need a big budget to produce big scares. We want to bring that fear of darkness to life in front of your eyes and make you start to worry when you shut your lights off at night that you get a small pit in your stomach and try to convince yourself that the noise you just heard was only the cat in the living room. Wait . . . do you even have a cat?

The project is currently fund raising through Indie Go Go in the hopes of raising a small amount of money to make sure the cast and crew gets a little pocket change out of the experience and to help pay for some special effects for the film. All of the filming with be done over a weekend in late February thus keeping the costs low. Anyone can donate to the project through the Indie Go Go page and receive incentives like signed copies of The Collective Volume 4, an invite to the cast and crew screening, and a cast and crew exclusive t-shirt. The main character of Kelly will be played by Kitsie Duncan. Kitsie has gained a dedicated following in the Indiana horror scene as a scream queen in numerous horror films and helps her husband Chris Jay in a producer role for their production company Darkrider Studios (www.darkriderstudios.com) which produces their own films as well as providing multiple media services. She was a producer and actress in the film Lethal Obsession which has made the rounds at
horror film festivals and horror conventions across the country.”

Our dreamy Zorro’s a manly-muscular Chihuahua/Terrier mix who dances delightfully when you meet him, then brandishes his handsome grin and full body wag for good measure. Affectionate 3 1/2 year young Zorro was turned in by his owner; he’s fun, friendly, responsive, and forever happy. He adores being petted and held — but enjoys a good race around the yard or nice leash walk, too. Zorro loves the ladies but should be tested with other males dogs; his housetraining’s in progress, and his short haired coat makes him easy care (don’t let him hear he’s small.) “Two peas in a pod” are Will and Grace. These Boxer, Shepherd, and Rottweiler are around 8 to 9-years old. Both are spayed/neutered, house-trained, absolutely mild-mannered and well-behaved. Because of their size and age, and the Humane Society staff hope they’ll be adopted together, they are available as a pair for a $50 adoption fee. They have proven to the shelter staff to be much happier and content when they’re together.

Seek Camille and you’ll find a purr-blast masquerading as a downy-soft, 6-month bit of shyness, she’s a tsunami of affection once you activate her, and her longish tri-color coat is gorgeous, too. Sweet Camille was turned in by a neighbor, her owners moved away and left her, but she’s knows in her heart that her very own loving home is just around the corner. Come see what a substantial friend this fluffy young glamor girl can be, and luxuriate in all the tenderness Camille has to give.

Here’s perfection on four legs — an impeccably housetrained German Shepherd/mix gentleman, small for his kind, with a smile as big and bright as his mind — so lovingly trustworthy he’s willing to wait for permission before hugging your neck warmly. Home Free for the Holidays – a Special Adoption Event

The Greenwood Humane Society is holding a pet adoption special this month with the hope that a lot of dogs and cats find good homes for the holidays.

On December 16 and 17, the regular $85 adoption fee for dogs and $50 for cats will be waived in a special they’re calling “Home Free for the Holidays.”

Their hope is that during this time of year, when most people are stretching their dollars to buy Christmas gifts for family and friends, that this special promotion will allow people to adopt new family pets. They encourage all potential adopters to be sure they’re ready for a new cat or dog to join their family and are committed to loving the pet for its entire life.

Even though the adoption fee will be waived, the animal’s vaccinations, heartworm or feline leukemia testing, spay or neuter, and microchip will still be included. Routine adoption processes will still apply.

The Greenwood County Animal Shelter is located at 235 Wilbanks Circle in Greenwood, behind the Greenwood Civic Center and Farmer’s Market. The Adoption Center’s hours of operation are 10:00a to 5:00p and adoption counselors can be reached at 864.942.8775 or by email.

Her owner brought in on a chain, but even then her exuberant wag was in full swing, as wide and unfettered as her steadfast smile. Chaney’s a surprisingly small one-year-young Boxer beauty, with all the traits that make her breed one of our country’s most popular — she’s destined to be a loyal companion, a tender, fun-loving playmate for your kids and an intelligent, highly trainable member of your household. Chaney loves to run in the yard and would make a great outside dog as long as she gets plenty of affection; she enjoys most other canines, is naturally clean and low maintenance, and her housetraining is coming along just fine.
