He’s one cool Dude in his own warm say, and the only thing more pleasing than his ultra- reliable housetraining is his sunny, supportive 24/7 smile. His owner had to move and regretfully gave us his beautifully schooled prize; The Dude’s an intelligent 3-year-young Red Heeler/American Staffordshire mix gentleman whose manners are immaculate; he’s a shelter office dog for now and a more civilized housemate you won’t find. The Dude’s as refined as you can be and still have fun — he doesn’t chew, won’t jump on you, and the only thing he’ll knock over is your heart; he’s patient with cats, great with kids, and he never meets a stranger; please test him with your current dog. The Dude’s highly food motivated, cooperative and responsive, teaching him new tricks would be fun; or just let him show your family how a courtly inside/outside guy behaves. If you’re ready to give your heart away to a handsome young sidekick who’ll shadow you happily, or simply need a friendly etiquette lesson, come and see The Dude.

Her owner moved and left her with us, but our gracious, affection-filled Little Debbie doesn’t belong here any more than a man in the moon — a full moon that is. At 8 years and 19 mostly soft-gray lbs., she’s just as large and lovely, and she’s replete with luminous personhood, too. Hold her and you’ll know you’re with a solid friend, the soft-voiced but chatty kind, who purrs a deep throaty purr, kneads your knees while she listens to your triumphs and tragedies, and eclipses the problems of the day with her very presence. Little Debbie’s an appreciative girl too — she gets along fine with other cats, keeps her white paws fastidiously clean, and would make a wise and gentle inside/outside pet for children. Her health is splendid and she’s already spayed; Little Debbie’s all set to light up your days, and your nights too, with her ample, love-beaming ways. Come see how much fun it is to be moonstruck, and how much more there is to love with our ever-so-deserving Little Debbie.

There’s no official breed listing of a Labra-Basset, but our charming Betty Boop’s here to challenge that — hers is indeed a rare breed of appeal, and of her many assets nothing shines brighter than her amiable, outgoing ways, not even the sheen on her beautiful black coat. One-year-old Betty Boop was returned to us because she grew too big, now she’s dazzling one and all with her fun, adoring, ever-so-social spirit; she’ll follow you anywhere with a smile, an instant friend-maker, patient and gentle, quick to roll on her back for a fine tummy rub, and beamingly happy to lie at your feet. Betty Boop shows infinite patience in our busy office, even cats who don’t like her can’t turn off her friendly, accepting approach, and she’s fine with other dogs too, even those not as beautiful as her intriguingly well-made self. Betty Boop’s destined to be a selfless, loyal and trustworthy companion for kids and a prized family member; she’s great on a leash and is waiting to walk with you into a future as happy as her ever-cheerful heart. Take her down from her window seat and she’ll reward you with a wealth of affection, but Molly’s a Tortoise-Shell cat after all, said to bring good luck and even some financial good fortune — look into her gorgeous tri-color face and you’ll see she’s a bonus calico, too, long-haired and stunning. At 4 years old Molly’s just a little slip of a thing underneath her opulent orange and black coat; she was turned in because of pet allergies, and now she’s determined to enrich her new family’s lives with her soft voice, tender head butts and fervent ankle rubs, all wrapped in a profusion of purrs. Molly’s gentle, social and attentive, and would make a wonderful companion for your young ones; she gets along fine with other cats and she’s a tidy little girl; her box is neat and her alabaster bib and paws are clean, feminine and carefully groomed. She’s so exquisitely housetrained the word “accident” isn’t in her vocabulary — but she demonstrates the true meaning of “genteel” with ease. Our smiling, social Chelsey’s an American Bulldog mix at 6 years old she’s a walking etiquette lesson, and she’ll teach you how sweetly genuine warmth and refined manners go together hand-in-paw. Chelsey was found stray in Bradley; whatever her early training she’s been socialized beautifully, and she celebrates the American Bulldog character in signature Chelsey style: she’s by-your-side social, confident and obedient, as clean and trustworthy at home as you are, a loving companion for your kids and a lovely playmate for other dogs, she’s fine with cats too, and oh yes, she adores leash-walking. Come meet the friendship delight of your life; her ladylike ways may remind you of Audrey Hepburn, but she doesn’t need breakfast at Tiffany’s at all; Chelsey only wants to be with you.

How he came to be named “Scatter” is as mysterious as his Egyptian Abyssinian heritage — he’s certainly not scatter brained or sloppy either. In fact his trademark Abyssinian/mix intelligence is so pronounced he’s beyond box-trained; he always waits patiently til dark to use his litter box — hey, who says a handsome 2-year-old guy in his prime can’t be modest? You’ll see that he wears the distinctive brown ticked Abyssinian coat too, dense, silky, and more spotted than striped — and his big, gloriously green eyes are another breed trait. But more important than his coloring is that his purr-trigger lies just fingertip deep in his warm ticked fur; Scatter was turned in because his owner had personal problems, but his ability to love is still as quietly constant as the rest of him. He’s abundantly affectionate in his own easy-going way and a friend to all who meet him — he’s used to living with other cats, is accepting of dogs and has just the serene temperament to make him a wonderful first pet for your little ones. Scatter’s already neutered and can go home with you today, where he’ll balance his exotic ancestry with plain down home good manners; and if your litter box is in a private place he may even use it before nightfall, but he’s sure to spend the days loving you. He’s a pure Chocolate Lab mix who loves water right down to his webbed feet — so much so that he sang when we turned on the hose, and earned his name “Radio.” But that’s just the first of this strikingly handsome 2-year-old’s bountiful assets; Radio loves to sit, shake and fetch on command, yes he’s already housetrained, and you and your kids will laugh with delight when he deftly catches a tennis ball in mid-air, as many times as you want to throw it. Radio jumped the fence at his previous home and now he’s here, the most popular, trainable and cooperative boy on the block; he gets along fine with other dogs, thinks walking on a leash is a blast, and is ready to roll his resplendent retriever heritage right into your home, where he’ll shower you with playful affection and lavishly innocent friendship. She rolls on her back submissively and smiles her heavenly smile when you rub her chest, showing you the flip side of her American Staffordshire image — tender, vulnerable, and as love-seeking as a young child. But then Rosary is indeed just a 2-year-old herself; a beautiful, healthy brindle and white young girl found stray, and a perfect candidate for adoption as a gentle, wholesome family dog. Rosary’s dream of paradise includes kids to play with and parents to bond with, she’ll stay by your side forever and a day, a divine companion with an eternal tail wag. She’s semi-housetrained already and good on a leash, her eagerness to please makes her a pleasure to train. He’s graceful, athletic, affectionate and intelligent — and he’s keen on bird-watching, too — but when you’re an elegant young Pointer mix like Toby, all that’s in your blood. Handsome 2 ½ year old Toby was found wandering with his sister, whose Pointer look’s just as picture-perfect as his, and he has manners to match his fine heritage. He loves a rollicking play session but he’s too polite to jump on you or your kids, and his congenial personality beams just as warmly from his blue eye as his brown. Toby’s housetraining’s in progress, he gets along fine with other dogs, and his ultra-short tan and white coat’s as easy-care as it comes. Splish-splash — is he taking a bath? — or is our beautiful young fur-cloud Grady playing in his water again? He’s a small Terrier mix who lives big, as well-formed from head to toe as a bantam weight wrestler, and if you dare underestimate his 11.4 lbs. he’ll put a hold on your heart before you know it. Three-year-old Bing is a stray with every social skill —he’s polite, outgoing and interested, great with kids and cats, and downright adoring of other dogs; he loves to walk on a leash and is making good progress on his house-training. (Don’t bother to stop his tail from wagging, it’s impossible.) Bing’s handsome brown and white coat is a snap to care for, and if you look deep into his eyes you’re sure to see true-blue. Wasabi was found stray in Ninety Six, now she’s ready to devote herself to entertaining you endlessly; kids 10 and up are recommended.
