Pets of the Week September 30, 2013

Jazzy
This one’s the “It Girl” — our darling year-and-a-half year old English Bulldog/mix “Jazzy” is wild and always wildly popular; at Petsmart’s recent adoption event she was thronged by kids, grownups and other dogs, and formed graceful friendships all around. At 34 lbs. Jazzy’s a perfectly huggable medium size, she’s intelligent, loyal, gentle and personable, with a playful side that will make your smile as happy as hers. Jazzy’s great on a leash but would love a yard to run in; she adores squeaky toys, keeps herself squeaky clean, and loves trading kisses. Meet the fair-haired companion who’ll show you what “convivial” means; Jazzy’s destined to be the star of your heart and home.

Mimosa
She’s sweetly orange and delightfully effervescent, a 6 month old bundle of attentive affection who’ll pour on her purr in an instant; but like her namesake drink, our giddy “Mimosa” can pack a tiny punch, she loves to play, but sometimes plays too hard to be handled by small children. Mimosa was found stray when she was only weeks old; she gets along fine with other cats and has ever-so-civilized box manners. We picture her as a devoted inside/outside cat, with a family to love and room to run off her bubbly energy. Drink in the pleasure of Mimosa’s soft, funny friendship, and see how much sparkle she brings to your fine home.

Pets of the Week September 23, 2013

Kinsley
She’s currently at Camp Chinquapin, a 5-year-old dream student, training to become your ideal family dog. Beagle/Border Collie mix “Kinsley” is 33 lbs. of calm devotion; she displays only the most appealing aspects of her breed backgrounds, and is destined to win “best in class” for exemplary manners — she appears to be housetrained, too. Some lost family has socialized Kinsley beautifully; she’s amiable, intelligent, attentive, and gently outgoing, an immediate, trustworthy friend to kids and other dogs, who enjoy leash- walking and think cats are just fine. Kinsley’s brimming with civility; her diplomacy skills are A+, and she gets high marks in kissing, too. Go see how much heart her tender spirit has in store, and learn how you’ve needed her all along.

EllaB
She’s a 2-year-old diluted Calico whose opinions are charmingly full strength: Ella will rub on you affectionately but dislikes to be held, adores a great conversation but wants you to do all the listening, and thinks being inside’s a bore altogether — outside’s where she’s happy, and she’ll bang on her hatch to prove it. Pretty Ella was found stray, we think she’s a country girl at heart; she’ll thrive as an outside cat who can enjoy her space, return home, talk a blue streak and punctuate her prose with a nice pet. Meet the funny outdoor cat who never stops giving her viewpoint, and see how wishy-washy other friends seem next to the definitive fellowship of Ella.

Pets of the Week September 16, 2016

Shana
She was a delicious hit at a recent event, with kids big and small hanging all over her; but then kids love chocolate, and 4-year-old Am Staff Terrier/Lab mix “Shana” looks like a chocolate sculpture — shiny, chiseled, and at 45 lbs., the perfect size for hugging. Sweet Shana’s as refined as a chocolate girl can be; she listens well, walks silky-smooth on a leash, will “sit” on command, and wouldn’t dream of jumping on you. She enjoys other dogs and running for a ball, too; but by-your-side is her idea of divine, she’d make a delightfully tasteful inside pet. Meet your forever-delectable family dog; Shana’s here, and she’s a friendship delicacy you’ll never tire of.

Sassy
Her name’s “Sassy,” but the only time this tender 2-year-old complains is when you put her down — how, after all, can she gently knead you, kiss you, and caress you with her purr-words when she’s not next to your face? Sassy was found stray, a beautifully-mannered Tabby-girl with gold brush strokes interspersed in her soft, spotted fur, a hint at how special she is. Sassy gets along easily with other cats, but the prize her vast pink heart is set on is YOU. See how courteously a girl named Sassy can ask to be held, how eloquently she can thank you, and how perfect she feels in your arms, your home and your life.

Pets of the Week September 9, 2013

Sable
Look up the definition for “perfect dog” in the dictionary and you’ll find a picture of Sable. This 45 lb., 3-year Black Shepherd and Australian Cattle Dog mix is the perfect size to be your indoor housemate. Sits for treats, housebroken, famously friendly with other animals and kids of all ages, she’s a motherly companion who’s need to nurture makes this loyal lassie a natural for your loving home. Sable is the September Employee Pick and her adoption fee reduced to $50, a deal if ever there was one.

Demi
Her eyes stand out like gemstones in her black velvet face — almost iridescent blue- green in the center; with yellow-green outer circles (disregard her picture please, it falls eons short of her true beauty). But beyond the first captivating glance is only melting comfort, for our 4-year-old Demi couldn’t be cozier to hold. Demi was brought in with her kittens, an outside stray who knew instinctively how to give and receive love. Her purr-motor never stops humming, and she welcomes you to sink your fingers into her fluffy silk fur, as deep as they’ll go, while she winks her gorgeous eyes serenely. Demi’s good with other cats but says “no thanks” to dogs; she’s patient, steadfast and gentle, a comfort to kids and grown-ups alike. Come see how tranquil a ravishing cat-girl can be, and how you’ll treasure her every moment, starting the second you meet.

Pets of the Week September 2, 2013

Duke
He’s a regal young Boxer named “Duke” but you could call him “Mr. Clean”; his mild-mannered behavior’s even more immaculate than his beautifully-built white form. Three-year-old Duke displays the bright, energetic playfulness that makes his breed so desirable for children, and a special calmness that’s his alone; he’ll glide quietly around in the yard, come when you call, give a tender pink grin, and kennel himself, too — right after he shows you how he can sit and lie down for a treat. Duke could easily be your inside dog, he’ll thrive on routine and a tidy, loving home. Come meet your flawless new friend today and see how joyfully pure devotion can be.

Nila
“Buff” is her color but she thinks it’s a verb —- delicate Nila will polish you with her purrs and rub your inner glow with her soft face (there’s a white blaze on her forehead to make her even prettier, and her topaz eyes sparkle, go to Petsmart and see.) At 2-years-old she’s forever petite, a small bundle of warm company whose refined ways make her popular with people big and small, and other pets, too. Nila’s ready to bring out the finest finish a friendship can have, take her home today so she can shine you and yours.
