Pets of the Week April 30, 2018

Cocoa is a big, sweet-tempered love bug who’s more than happy to prove that no matter how much you weigh, you can still snuggle. She’s a 2-year-old milk chocolate-colored Retriever-Terrier mix with a huge grin that hardly ever leaves her face and a tail that rarely stops wagging. She loves toys, especially ones she can chew up, and she’s hoping to find a canine companion who’s as big and strong and playful as she is. Cocoa is one of the Humane Society of Greenwood’s Teddy Bear Terriers, a fun, cuddly name created to show the true sweet inner nature of Pitbulls and Pit mixes. She recently went through heartworm treatment, but that never affected her loving, kind personality one bit. Don’t you need a Teddy Bear Terrier in your life?

This regal kitty is named after Nefertari, the Egyptian Queen. The name means “The Beautiful Companion,” which is perfect for this sweet, loving, 2-year-old brown and white tabby. Nephie is a quiet girl, a little bashful at first, but quick to warm up to those she meets, showing off her affectionate nature by rubbing her head under your chin and settling in for cuddles. She prefers a somewhat peaceful environment rather than a rambunctious one. That being said, when she’s in the mood, she’s more than happy to show off her playful side. Nephie seems to be relaxed around children and other cats, so she should be content in a variety of home situations. Adopt this royal beauty today.

Pets of the Week September 25, 2017

This one-year-old Bluetick Coonhound is the epitome of his breed. Henry is a high-energy dog who definitely needs a job to stay happy, fit and focused. This handsome, sophisticated-looking dog is smart, sensible, and stable. He’s also sensitive and needs a family who can be patient and provide him with positive reinforcement training. As quick as this dog can learn, it would only take dedicated consistency and love to allow him to be the perfect dog he knows he is.

Three months young and already as charming as a Prince, Damen is a black-and-white, soul-patch sporting boy who is nothing but a bundle of love. Although he surprises with momentary spurts of kitten energy, he’s more of an old soul watching what the other cats are up to and meditating on how good life is. He sports a white ascot on his chest which gives the illusion that he is more of a sophisticate, but the truth is that he’s just a fun, playful kitten who has a long life to enjoy with you.

Lee Weathers (Kate Mara) is a Risk-Mangement Consultant for a company performing genetic experiments. She comes to a remote site where the specimen, Morgan (Anya Taylor-Joy), injured a staff member. It is Lee’s job to work with Dr. Shapiro (Paul Giamatti) to determine if the specimen is still viable or needs to be destroyed. Bianca
Bianca, underweight and nervous, was brought to the animal shelter by animal control officers. She is now ten pounds healthier and more playful, just like what a bouncy White Boxer mix should be. Dubbed the “Peter Pan” of dogs, Boxers are highly energetic, and as they grow into adulthood, they never lose the desire to romp and play like a puppy. ? Bianca is a perpetual cuddle bug and will try to wriggle into even the smallest space possible to get close to the ones she loves. Always wanting to be the center of attention and to attract an audience, this people-pleasing pooch is sure to make a loving and loyal addition to any active family.

Lucky
?4-year-old Lucky is a male American Longhair who prefers quiet and calm surroundings. He’s a refined, gentleman cat who enjoys the companionship of adults and other felines who share his appreciation of the finer things in life, like classical music and Fancy Feast. ?A good scratch behind the ears and regular brushing of his plush coat are all he needs to keep looking dapper and handsome. Set him on a comfy perch and you’ve just made all of his dreams come true! Visit Lucky at Petsmart and give this cat of quiet charm a loving home.

Recommendation: Mulitplex webcomic

multiplex_book1_largeI am a big fan of the Multiplex Webcomic. multiplexcomic.com

From the site:
Multiplex is an online comic about the movie-loving and customer-weary staff of your local movie theater. It is written and illustrated by Gordon McAlpin. It has been running continuously since July 2005, and serves roughly 50,000 unique visitors per month (or about half a million pageviews per month).

For New Readers: Click Here

I wanted to bring this up, because the artist on Multiplex, Gordon McAlpin, is about to wrap up a Kickstarter
for a third volume collected edition of strips. I have backed the first 2 volumes and this one as well. Gordon has always delivered on his Kickstarted projects. He has also been very communicative with his backers as well. Not something you see from everyone runnign a KickStarter lately.

I’m not much of a reviewer. But the interplay of characters brings me back week after week. It has been a treat to see the characters grow and change. The strip runs more or less in real time. You’ll see current movie posters in the background. You get your funny. You get some angst. You get some romance. You get some snark.

I’ll leave off with 3 words: Zombie Movie Arc

UPDATE:  The Kickstarter for Book 3 was a success!!!
