  • Poser – formerly by Metacreations, now by e-frontier. Great character renderer with amazing ease of use.
  • UV Mapper Pro – Great Utility for making Templates and mapping 3D objects.
  • Vue d’Esprit – by e-on software. Great Landscape renderer
  • Bryce – formerly by Metacreations, now by Daz3D. Good Landscape renderer
  • Carrarra – formerly by Metacreations, then eovia now by Daz3D. Full Featured 3D renderer based on Ray Dream Studio
  • Hexagon – formerly by eovia – now by Daz3D
  • Maya – from AliasWavefront. I have only used the Free version from their site.
Free Software
  • UV Mapper – Free version of UV Mapper that is excellent for generating templates and making minor corrections to models.
  • Blender – Open Source Modeler

  • MilkShape 3D
  • Daz Studio – Daz also has an app similar to Poser for free on their site. Any plugins do have a cost, tho.

3D Models
  • Daz3D – Excellent Poser and Bryce models available.
  • Renderosity – Great Community site with a 3D store with items for most 3d software out there. They also have free items uploaded by members available.
  • RuntimeDNA – Excellent models available – mainly geared towards poser.
