Recommendation: Mulitplex webcomic

multiplex_book1_largeI am a big fan of the Multiplex Webcomic. multiplexcomic.com

From the site:
Multiplex is an online comic about the movie-loving and customer-weary staff of your local movie theater. It is written and illustrated by Gordon McAlpin. It has been running continuously since July 2005, and serves roughly 50,000 unique visitors per month (or about half a million pageviews per month).

For New Readers: Click Here

I wanted to bring this up, because the artist on Multiplex, Gordon McAlpin, is about to wrap up a Kickstarter
for a third volume collected edition of strips. I have backed the first 2 volumes and this one as well. Gordon has always delivered on his Kickstarted projects. He has also been very communicative with his backers as well. Not something you see from everyone runnign a KickStarter lately.

I’m not much of a reviewer. But the interplay of characters brings me back week after week. It has been a treat to see the characters grow and change. The strip runs more or less in real time. You’ll see current movie posters in the background. You get your funny. You get some angst. You get some romance. You get some snark.

I’ll leave off with 3 words: Zombie Movie Arc

UPDATE:  The Kickstarter for Book 3 was a success!!!

Lucy
Lucy is a 2 year old American classic sweetheart who dreams of hearing the words, “Lucy! You’re home!” She looks like a Boxer, but sings like a Hound. Whatever the case, this good girl knows to use her inside voice and save her balladeering for the out of doors. She loves to play fetch with tennis balls, but her version of the game is to run after the ball and then keep it, leaving you standing in the sun watching her have a good time. She’s a large-sized gal who’s most unique physical attribute is the small cluster of spots on her back that form a paw print. When she buries her head into your chest and tries to fit into your lap, you’ll wonder if trying to convince her of her size is worth the effort. Lucy can make the worst day better, and when she smiles at you, you’ll find yourself smiling right back.

Pepper
Pepper is a 4 month old kitten with a spicy name and a fiery personality to match. This playful little guy will use whatever object he finds as a prop for his amusement. He loves to play with the broom as you try to sweep, or pick a fight with his blanket, which is fruitless for him but fun to watch. To quiet him down, simply pick him up and cradle him like a baby. He will realize it’s time to cuddle, look up at you with his hypnotic green eyes full and invite you to snuggle into his fluffy, baby soft, orange tabby fur. Although consider yourself warned, once you pick him up, you’ll never want to let him go.

Frisco
Surf’s up dude! Frisco is 2 years young and seems to be confused about whether he’s a dog or a fish. He spends more time in the kiddie pool than he does on dry land dreaming of catching waves. Being a Jack Russell Terrier mix, he’s full of energy and knows how to turn any situation into a game. His playful personality is sure to bring a smile to your face as he teaches you how “not to take life so seriously.” His slender build and small stature makes him the perfect companion for any water lover. So whether you’re looking for someone to ride the waves with at the beach or cruising on a boat at the lake, Frisco would be the perfect match and is sure to make a real SPLASH in your life.

Charlie
This 3-month-old inky black kitten is named Charlie. But don’t let his common name fool you to think he’s a common cat. With his natural “white tie” and “cumberbund” markings, Charlie looks dressed and ready for a fancy affair. However, this renaissance kitty has the savoire faire to enjoy and impress in any gathering. He loves to bat at people passing by the gate of his kennel or play ball on the floor with his countless number of toys. Whatever, and whoever, he can get his paws on he’ll turn into a game of fun. Adopt Charlie today to add a burst of high octane Jerry Lewis fun to your home.

Pets of the Week July 13, 2015

Darla
Darla is a darling of a dog who loves all people. And her appreciation and desire for companionship is solely for people, not other dogs. At three-years-young, this hazel brown Retriever mix loves giving attention as much as receiving it and would be the perfect doggie BFF. She readily admits to being a toy hoarder and can spend hours alone playing with her amassed playthings. Full of joyful energy and spunk, Darla is entertaining and will bring a lot of fun into someone’s life. Visit and spend time with this one-sided lop-eared love and let her show you how to really have fun.

Regina
Regina is a gorgeous medium-haired Diluted Calico. Her wispy soft, tri-colored coat feels like she was rubbed down with a dryer sheet. She’s two-years-old and a wee bit shy; but don’t mistake her introverted persona as lacking in love. Quite the opposite, she thoroughly enjoys ear scratches and any other kind gestures of affection. She just prefers to choose when she wants held or to sit in a cozy lap. A quiet, low-key home is where she would be happy and thrive most. Give her space and she’ll reward you with her trust and love. This former stray is ready for a stable, long-term, and loving home. Visit Petsmart in Greenwood to get a peek at this rare feline jewel.

Pets of the Week July 6, 2015

Blaze
Blaze is a three-month-young, female Plott Hound and Spaniel mix and a literal burst of energy. She runs hard. She plays hard. She lives hard. Fortunately for her future family, she recently graduated from Camp Good Dog with full honors and has learned some of the “tricks” of being a mature, well-behaved doggie. As a young, progressive pup, she does not discriminate on who she befriends. Dogs and cats alike are both loved with equal acceptance, as well as the occasional visiting squirrel. Blaze will light up your home with love and laughter and that is a deal no one should pass up.

Oscar
A five-month-old Brown Tabby kitten is Oscar. Unlike his Sesame Street namesake, this Oscar is full of fuzzy fun and prefers a couch to a trash can. His medium-length coat is sure to be stunning after he’s fully grown and the weather is cooler. For now, he looks a little like he took a rolling dive across a carpeted floor and has been infused with static electricity. And don’t even mention his ear hair. The potential uses for that attribute are endless: catching flies, tickling human ankles and shins, providing shade for smaller pets, and sweeping the floor. But his best feature is his big heart. Oscar is one amusing kitty and guaranteed to bring joy, entertainment, and jocularity to someone’s life.
