Pets of the Week September 28, 2015

Sasha
Two-year-old Sasha is a long, lean, loving machine. This 45 lb. Shepherd mix is a bundle of fun energy who loves running and romping and would make a wonderful jogging and hiking buddy. Her best doggie friend, Monty, was just adopted and together they used to play chase until both were exhausted from … playing chase. Living with an active family would be the perfect fit for her and having a dog friend would just be the icing on the cake. Sasha’s zest for life is contagious and if you need a canine coach to help get you moving and active, she would love to be the one.

Velvet
Velvet could not be more appropriately named. Her soft plush gray and white coat is a delight to the touch and her easygoing personality equally as capitivating. At two-years-old, this cool cat is a champion in the game of hide-and-seek. She camouflages herself in any setting and then takes great pleasure in watching we humans look for her. As if showing her seekers mercy, she will eventually reveal herself and parade along the floor meowing, “I was here all along!” Velvet gets along with other cats, dogs, and even kiddos. Adopt this lovely lady and add an casual elegance to your home.

Pets of the Week September 21, 2015

Wilma
6-year-old, Hound and Border Collie mix Wilma Flintstone needs a home. When her previous owner passed away, her life took a sudden and drastic turn — no home, no family, and living in an animal shelter with 90 other dogs. The good news is that she has a heart and love that surpasses her circumstances. She’s an amazingly well-balanced pooch, the Hound in her likes to relax and chill out. If she has visitors who want to play, she’s quick to oblige and will show off her Border Collie skills running circles around everyone. Medium-sized Wilma loves kids, older folks, and everyone else in-between. She is a resilient dog who wants to once again have a loving companion and warm home to call her own.

Stoney
Silly and swift, Stoney is a cat lover’s action dream. At ten months old, he still has all the playful exuberance of a kitten and will be a footloose and fun-loving cat for years to come. Stoney has a creamy, orange tabby coat with little white mittens that are perfect for getting into laughable mischief. Although he is deaf, he really needs an outdoor area to live and perform his acrobatic antics and the “song of his people.” He likes to sing, but can’t hear himself to know that … well, his style is “unique.” Stoney is fine around other pets, but because he is packed with high-throttle energy he is best suited for homes without small children. Add some entertaining kitty hijinks to your life by adopting Stoney!

Pets of the Week September 14, 2015

Wallace
Wallace is a two-year-old, golden brown and white American Staffordshire Terrier and no ordinary pup. He has door manners — he waits to be invited in ?and? out, not forcing his way into your space. And he’s brilliant! All you have to do is ask and he’ll sit, lie down, roll over, and shake your paw, but not all at one time because that would be weird. Give him a gentle back rub and he will reward you with an ear-to-ear smile e?l?iciting your mirrored response. What follows is Wallace’s gradual progression into doggie nirvana with his eyes slowly closing, his body becoming limp, and all leading to a grand finale of him stretched out on the ground in pure meditative bliss. You can almost see a cartoon bubble above his head that reads: “I’m dreaming of sharing my life and love in a new home with you. Ahhhhhhh. Life’s great!”

Ichabod
Calm, cool and independent Those words best describe satin black Ichabod, a two-year-old shorthaired eye-catching feline stunner. Try to avoid the hypnotic allure and power of his jade green eyes. You can’t do it. He displays the stealth skills of a cat who would make a successful hunter. With his deep black camouflaged coat, he could be quite effective at keeping your home free of unwanted pests. But don’t assume that he’s all work and no play. Lounging and just “being” is a-okay with Ichabod. Yes. He is one cool cat.

Pets of the Week, September 7, 2015

Monty
Monty is a medium-sized, 2 year old, Labrador Retriever mix with a winning personality and out to discover the meaning of life. He’s outgoing, eager to please, and friendly with people and pets alike. Monty has a short, thick blonde coat, with touches of white on his toes and on the tip of his curly Q tail. Full of boundless energy, he loves to spend time playing fetch. His toy of choice? A tennis ball. He would almost rather have a tennis ball than a treat. He enjoys baths and being clean; he closes his eyes and smiles while the shampoo is being massaged throughout his coat. Monty is a dapper, sweet boy with a heart of gold and aspires to be a family dog or your child’s new best friend.

Heidi
Heidi is a 5 month old, short-haired kitty with a Diluted Calico coat. She is a lively kitten who loves to play with her toys, especially the dangly, tangly kind. Since she didn’t experience the normal socialization during her early months, she has a couple quirky quirks. She wants affection, but doesn’t really know how to receive it. She talks and talks to get your focus and when you reach out to give her a rub, she shyly ducks away like she’s suddenly had a change of heart. After about three times of this coy “game,” she’ll stay still and let a little love come her way. She and her sisters, June and Rose, all came to the shelter as young kittens and Heidi is the only one left still waiting for a new family to take her home.
