Polar

Interesting tale of a retired hitman and the lengths his former employer will go to to keep from paying out his pension. A group of young hitmen going after the grizzled retiree shows a nice examination between experience and training.

It is a nice alternative to the John Wick series. The fight scenes are not as frenetic as John Wick, but still enjoyable.

When Dominic visits a school and gives a talk to a group of children is one of my favorite scenes. He shows then knife techniques and photos of a 3 day old corpse.

It does set itself up for a sequel.

Starring: Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick, Fei Ren, Ruby O. Fee, Matt Lucas, Robert Maillet, Anthony Grant, Josh Cruddas, Lovina Yavari

Synopsis (from IMDB): The world’s top assassin, Duncan Vizla, is settling into retirement when his former employer marks him as a liability to the firm. Against his will, he finds himself back in the game going head to head with an army of younger killers.

Glass

Disappointing.

That sums up his movie for me. As much as I loved Unbreakable, this movie was just sad and ended on a weak note.

I liked how it started with Dunn hunting the Beast. I liked it all until they are both arrested and sent to an asylum.

We get the twist reveal of a secret society that eliminates powered people (whether good or bad) to maintain the status quo.

So … all 3 of our characters get killed at the end by this shadow group.

Just felt like a waste of time and money.

Starring: James McAvoy, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Anya Taylor-Joy, Sarah Paulson, Spencer Treat Clark, Charlayne Woodard

Synopsis (from IMDB): Security guard David Dunn uses his supernatural abilities to track Kevin Wendell Crumb, a disturbed man who has twenty-four personalities.

ClaraThere’s something special about an older dog. They’re calmer and quieter with eyes that express the wisdom of their years. Clara is a prime example. This 8-year-old Blue Tick Hound’s deep brown eyes radiate kindness and offer a glimpse into an experienced soul. Despite her senior status, she’s still a hound, which means she loves an adventure and will happily explore wherever she finds herself. Clara gets along with everyone – adults, children, dogs, and cats alike. She’s a loving, gentle girl who’s hoping someone special is going to welcome her into their home for the rest of her life.

MiriumMirium is just as sophisticated and ladylike as you would expect her to be with such a time-honored name. She’s only a year old, so quite young, but she shows a wisdom beyond her years as she expresses little interest in chasing around toys, much preferring to sit quietly and simply be adored. And Mirium’s beauty lives up to her name as well – she’s a gorgeous dilute Tortoiseshell, mostly gray, accented throughout with a creamy orange. And her large, bright green eyes are nothing short of mesmerizing. Come meet lady Mirium today.

JebJeb is living proof that good things come in, well, large packages. He is a big boy. But don’t let that fool you into thinking he doesn’t see himself as a lapdog. This one-year-old gentle giant is perfectly willing to snuggle with just about anyone he meets. He really isn’t picky. He likes other dogs and every person he’s ever met. Jeb is also very handsome, as you would expect with a Retriever-Blue Heeler mix. He black coat is liberally painted with speckled gray and white, from his muzzle to his chest and down his legs. Jeb loves toys and treats, but, most of all, he loves attention. Come meet him today. You won’t be disappointed.

Tort It’s impossible to meet Tort and not have the word “cute” pop into your head. She’s quite beautiful, with her white, black, and butterscotch coat, but it’s the fact that she’s a pint-sized kitty with plump little toes that give her feet an adorably rounded appearance and a tiny meow that’s no more than a squeak which make her simply irresistible. Tort is distinctive in another way as well: she’s a special needs cat with a mouth condition that does require continued care. This sweet two-year-old Calico doesn’t let that affect her attitude though. She loves attention and will readily come to you for scratches and head bumps.

Pets of the Week January 14, 2019

JoyThere’s no need to delve too deeply into why this 6-year-old Terrier mix is named Joy. It’s immediately obvious due to her calm, laid-back personality and desire to spend as much time as possible with her people. She seems to be happiest when taking a long walk or snuggling with a favorite buddy, as opposed to chasing around toys. Joy is a pleasure to look at as well, with her lovely brindle coat accented with a splash of purest white on her chest. Plus, she gets along well with other dogs. So, in short, Joy is a true delight and is sure to bring happiness to any household lucky enough to claim her.

RaymondRaymond is quite possibly the definition of the perfect cat. He’s 4 years old, so he’s moved beyond the mischievous kitten stage and settled into what would be considered a more mature, chilled out, loving phase. That doesn’t mean he isn’t interested in toys, because he certainly enjoys the chance to bat around his favorite playthings, but ultimately, he wants attention from his humans, whether that means lots of scratches and belly rubs or the chance to settle down in a lap for a good long snooze. And yes, Raymond will gladly tell you what he wants, as he’s quite the talker. Swing by and meet him today.
