This is a wonderful crime comic set in a superpowered world. Walker and Deena are homicide detectives dealing in special cases where super powers are involved. Walker is a former hero, Diamond. Through the series we have learned his history from beginning (literally) to his de-powerment, to his recent repowerment as the Millenium Guard. I highly recommend picking up all the trades for powers – check my amazon store. This is not a title for kids however.

This is the absolute best superhero comic being published today. Mark Davis discovers that he has super powers one day. His reaction. “Finally” See, Mark’s father is the world’s number one hero – Omni-man. A visitor from another world. I know, you’re thinking Super-Man. But you couldn’t be more wrong. We follow Mark as he progresses in his hero career. This series is worth picking up single issues and picking up the hardback collections.

Walking Dead [Image]

Zombies. I could stop there. This title isn’t so much about zombies as the people who are trying to survive this zombie outbreak. Kirkman makes zero attempts to explain why the zombies are walking the earth. They just are. This is another title nor for kids. Especially after the most recent issue published.

Teen Titans [DC]
written by Geoff Johns
I love this series. The New Teen Titans with Wolfman and Perez got my into DC comics back in the day. Geoff Johns has done a consistent job telling good stories.

Ultimate Spider-Man [Marvel]
written by Brian Michael Bendis, art by Mark Bagley
A Re-telling of Spidey’s life with a modern twist. This is a teenaged Spidey. His identity is not public knowledge. In many ways, just better Spidey stories than in regular continuity.

Powers #22
More Powers goodness. The death of several heroes and the ramifications continue to unravel this week. Walker and Deena try to approach their captain with their theory and small bit of evidence only to rebuffed. Crystal begins to talk with them and gets killed by an invisible assailant for her troubles. I cannot wait for this arc to be completed. It is just begging for a single sit-thru reading.

There is a serial killer on the loose, Karen White is the only reporter he communicates with. After a near fatal encounter with him at a Pussycat Theater, she is ordered to take a vacation. Eddie was killed by the Police, but Karen doesn’t want to let it go and discovers that he came from a tiny community in the woods and that’s where she decides to vacation with boyfriend Chris. Big mistake, because Eddie was an outcast of a pack of Werewolves who is trying to keep a low profile and doesn’t want any interviews. Can Karen and Chris escape the village of the wolf?

Teen Titans #42
We finally learn the origin of Kid Devil and how he became demonic. Very nice info on a char I knew nothing about until he appeared in the pages of the Titans. I will not spoil the details of this issue. You should read it yourself for the story alone. The art on this issue was a little ‘meh’, but the story outweighed that factor.

This amazing series chronicled Eric Cord’s search for a cure to Lycanthopy. He must find the head of the bloodline and kill him/her. He is hunting for an older werewolf played by Chuck Connors. He is himself being hunted by a bounty hunter. Each episode was only 30 minutes and it only lasted one season, but this series had the best Werewolf creature effects I had seen before or since (Dog Soldiers does come close). Justice League of America #4

The team is really starting to get together this issue. We learn why Red Tornadoes body was stolen and the surprise mastermind behind the whole thing. We also learn a little about the true immortals of the DCU.
