He’s the noble young son you’ll cherish, a 6-month almost-grown hound/mix puppy, handsome as heck and naturally gifted with quiet manners and a playful eagerness to learn. Duke is a family dog at heart; he’s equally adoring of kids and grownups, happily befriends other dogs and cats, and feels at home inside or out. He’s also a proud leash-walker and is making fine progress with his house-training. When he lies by your side he radiates well-being, enough to keep everyone warm forever.

YES her name is Buffy, and NO she’s not a vampire slayer — all she’ll slay is your heart, but she’ll do it so gently with her own beguiling ways that you’ll happily comply. Buffy’s quirky too, a lovely soft 2-years-young calico girl with one tan and one gray front leg, and pure clean white on her mouth, chin and paws. She has everything to offer the ones she loves — and she doesn’t really slay your heart, she just purrs until your heart melts and becomes bigger than ever.

He’s leaving for Camp Chinquapin a rollicking boy and he’ll come back a polished gem of a young gentleman — with basic obedience training under his belt and his fun-loving spirit well intact! Handsome Connor is a healthy, medium-sized, one-year-young shepherd mix, and he has all the makings of a great student and exceptional family dog.

He’s warm, witty and entertaining, the polar opposite of aloof, and his name “Presto” is fair warning for how quickly you’ll fall for this handsome 2 year old Tiger-Boy’s affections. Presto gets along wonderfully with others cat, likes to be indoors or out, and is tidier than tidy. If you’d like a loyal friend who’s absolutely INTO YOU, complete with a non-stop festive spirit, make Presto your own.

If well behaved is what you’re looking for, Charlie is your man. At 2 years old he’s full of loving enthusiasm, he’ll jump for joy when he meets you but he’s much too polite to jump on you. Charlie loves kids and adults, and is great on a leash. Charlie’s ready to give his sweet, happy soul to the right loving family, one who’ll appreciate his quiet, outgoing personality and his ever-after loyalty.

She’s a doll in every way, a shiny little black doll so relaxed and easy-to-please she didn’t bat an eye when she went to two off-site adoption events; she lounged in a cage in the parking lot with traffic whizzing by as if nothing were amiss. Although at 9 months old she’s just a kid herself, your little ones will love playing with her. Dixie loves being indoors and out, gets along beautifully with other cats, and is ready to make your happy home even happier.

Pets of the Week October 24, 2011

Baxter has returned from “finishing school” at Camp Chinquapin and he has learned A LOT! At 10 months old this Boxer-mix boy plays non-stop until you call him, and then run straight into your arms. Baxter’s full of gentle, outgoing spirit — he adores playing with kids and other dogs; a nice yard where he can romp with others would be perfect for him. He’s housetrained and a proud leash walker, too!

Sausalito’s an exotic one-year-old Abyssinian mix beauty with the fine bone structure and extroverted personality her breed is known for, and a strong warm heart all her own. Sausalito’s patterned with soft brown jungle-cat spots, you’ll admire them every time she rubs her toasty soft-self against you. With her steady, supportive outlook and intelligent, tidy ways, Sausalito may become the most civilized member of your family.

Pets of the Week October 17, 2011

If you thought Snoopy set the standard for Beagle appeal, think again; beautiful 4-year old Sadie blows him away. Her heart’s big and outgoing we don’t know how her little brown and white body contains it; she’s affectionate, playful and attentive, an adoring sidekick for kids and grownups, and a delightful companion for your current family dog — cats are OK too! Run- return-snuggle is Sadie’s favorite schedule, but she also loves to leash-walk — a great time for human-Beagle conversation!

He’s as big and cozy as a Lazy Boy recliner — built for comfort right down to his soft, declawed paws — and handsomely “upholstered” in miniature tiger stripes as soft as pinwale corduroy. Oliver’s a vibrantly healthy young man and a fine snuggle companion; he was turned in by his owners because the family dogs bothered him and he couldn’t defend himself in his declawed state; now he’s looking for a home to keep tidy and a human to cherish, kids and a screened porch would be his idea of heaven.
