Here’s a new way to cherish the liberty you prize — a gleaming Lady Liberty of your very own; she’s a gloriously good-looking Labrador/Pit Bull girl, 3 years old and endowed with a spirit that’s equally jubilant and cooperative. Liberty was turned in by her owner regretfully; she’ll romp in the yard, run back when you call her, sit on command, lie contentedly at your feet, then return to her kennel upon request — without ever losing her pretty smile. Liberty’s everything an all-American family dog should be — she adores kids, enjoys other dogs and is fine with cats; her first love is YOU and she’s happy to share. Liberty’s already spayed and ready to bring all the loyalty of her uncontained heart to your home today; come see the daughter who’ll forever join your pursuit of happiness.

In cat years he’d be a freshman, but instead of traditional orange our handsome, clean cut Clemson wears a dreamy-soft Creamsicle coat, and with his warmly social ways he’s more the dorm diplomat than a tiger any time. Clemson was found stray and already neutered — the fair haired cat-child of some unlucky family, a slender young man with a long, chiseled face, and manners most parents only dream about. At 3 years old he’s already learned how to get along gracefully with everyone — cats, dogs and humans alike; his courteous, affectionate attitude comes complete with a quiet purr, the better to safeguard your friendship, which he holds in high esteem. Come see how his picture fails to capture his pleasingly delicate markings and the intelligence in his eyes, and how exciting it is to embark on a future with your devoted new boyfriend, Clemson.

If patience is a virtue then 3-year-old Cheeto’s a shiny chocolate saint; he recently visited Petco where he disported himself with aplomb; the crowd adored him, and he was just as smitten with them. How this graceful Labrador/American Staffordshire prince turned into a “stray” is a mystery; he welcomes a good romp with his dog playgroup, and his constant wag only gets happier around kids. Cheeto’s naturally too well-mannered to jump on you, he loves a leash and his housetraining shows promise. All he needs is a little time and attention to be perfectly polished; his penchant for pig’s ears and his cooperative spirit will make training him your most fun — and fulfilling — family project yet. Come look into the eyes of utter devotion; Cheeto’s ready to give you every minute of his fine future.

He’s built like a brick litter box, with a muscular physique that lives up to his powerful name — Capone. But this young man’s personality’s as tender as his name is tough; he’d rather snuggle-rub his airy orange fur on you than pick even the smallest fight, and the only place he rides shotgun’s on your shoulder. Handsome Capone was found stray, alone with no one to talk to, and for a warmly social gentleman like him that was a bore. Now he’s here waiting for you, purring along fine with other cats, dogs too — and showing everyone how clean a white chin should be, and how masculine it is to be tidy. Capone’s happy to be your inside/outside cat as long as you’re in kissing distance, the only gang this gangster wants is your family, and the only crime he’ll ever commit is stealing your heart. Come feel the exquisite companionship of a cat-boy named Capone.

Her name’s the Italian word for “beautiful” and lap-sized Chihuahua mix Bella lives up to it and more; one look and you’ll see that her face is exquisitely sensitive, and unlike many of her breed, she’s as calm as a cameo. Her owner gave her up because of financial troubles, but 2-year-old Bella’s rich in social graces; she loves everyone, from little kids on up, and she adores the company of other canines. Playtime’s fun time for Bella, she’ll race with the big dogs, then happily run back to you for the ecstasy of your arms. Bella’s heartworm positive but it is very treatable, and she’s working on her housetraining; you’ll see her eagerness to learn written clearly in her eyes the first time you meet her. Don’t wait to take Bella into your life; she’ll show you how low-maintenance a great love can be, and how easily her gentle-strong affection translates into your family’s dream.

Her temperament’s as spotless as the rest of her is spotted; for our declawed Calico Tabby Aubrey is sweetness personified, and her magnificent tiger coat’s covered with beautiful reddish-brown markings, in and between her fine stripes. Some might even call this lovely 2 year old “shy,” but her loving nature’s so pure it beams your way easily, transported by her soft purr and tender head butts. Aubrey’s owner moved and left her with us, now she wants to be your inside cat, and she’s prepared to show you how clean and congenial a young girl can be. Aubrey’s gets along fine with other pets, and her gentle nature makes her an impeccable choice for kids; trust her to demonstrate what loving kindness is all about, and how fun nice manners are, too — especially woven into a warmly affectionate friendship. Come hold Aubrey’s gracious beauty in your arms, then take her home and enjoy her steadfast heart forever.

Pets of the Week July 9, 2012

She was found walking down a road with a shock collar embedded in her neck, but you wouldn’t know it now; our ladylike Beagle Shona’s so well healed she’ll show you her playful side, and she’s the epitome of civilized — perfectly housetrained, quiet and tranquilly affectionate, she’ll lie at your feet lovingly, and shadow you into the next room, too. At 8-healthy-years-old Shona still has puppy dog eyes, and they see nothing but companionship; she’s instant buddies with every dog and cat she meets, she’s proud to leash-walk with you and her resplendent heart will show you loyalty as you’ve never seen it before. Come meet your new sidekick Shona, and see how much everyday fun a phenomenal friend can bring.

His interest in you is as perfect as the circle on his side — the one formed by his handsome wide stripes, come see — but 2-year-old Slim may be too busy head-butting his affection and rubbing his sleek sunset-orange fur on you to get a good look at first. It takes distance between you to catch the nuances of his distinctive markings, and closing that distance is all too natural for our infinitely social tiger man. Slim was a stray, but his talent for befriending cats, dogs, kids and grownups is as deep as the pink of his nose; he was fostered for a weekend by a shelter employee and fit in so gracefully you’d think he’d lived there forever. Playful Slim’s on the small side and sure to stay that way but his outgoing personality is enormous, he’ll gladly purr you his opinion on everyday trivia, and meow you all manner of profound insights; he keeps his box tidy and himself thoughtfully groomed, the better to be snuggle-ready at a moment’s notice. Slim’s already neutered and ready to go home with you today; come claim his warmth, wit and loving fascination with all things YOU.
