Persian prince Dapper Dan delights in demonstrating all the reasons his breed has been our country’s most popular for years; his affectionate ways are as deep as his face is flat, and he’ll quickly show you the meaning of pure friendship. Dapper Dan’s just 4 years old; his owner had serious health problems and now he’s here, sporting a “lion cut” and looking for all the world like a young gentleman wearing a gray felt suit and white spats. Dan knows he’s handsome but he’s more concerned with you, and is quick to offer a devoted purr, a warm, solid snuggle and seriously pleasing companionship. His placid disposition makes him a great choice for kids and he’s fine with other cats; he keeps a fine box and enjoys going outside, as long as he knows your lap is waiting. Come hear the sound of a Persian plucking your heartstrings; Dapper Dan’s ready to show you forever happiness.

She’s the spunky little girl who thinks big, and if you’re like her handler at our Petco event, you’ll be smitten and smiling before you can say her name, “Joanna.” This 3-year-old Chihuahua/Terrier mix is packed with more entertainment value than all the rest of us put together — her leadership style’s simply “do what I say,” but her canine friends are so adoring they’re happy to comply. Joanna’s owner gave her up because of money troubles, but Joanna’s self-image hasn’t suffered; she’s loving, humorous and full of merrymaking — brighter than a new penny and eager to show you how quickly she can learn, a perfect pick for kids who need a harmless but mischievous playmate or a single who deserves a cuter than cute sidekick. Meeting her is its own reward; come see how boring your life’s been ’til now, and how much life, fun and friendship can be contained in a little dog named Joanna.

Pets of the Week August 27, 2012

She loves to lie in our baby pool, but that’s the only place our ladylike 3 ½ year old shepherd mix “Tulsa” ever makes waves. Otherwise she simply shines — from her clean, gleaming coat to her belief in the beauty of getting along; she’s a gentle canine joy, with a pure capacity for play and a social side that never stops. Tulsa was found stray in Greenwood, her sweet, quiet manners are her very own; she adores her playgroup but loves you even more, and she’d a make trustworthy, patient companion for kids big or small. Tulsa’s stature isn’t as big as her kisses, she’s a perfect size for a family dog; she’s intelligent, eager to learn, and imminently trainable, only her kind heart is set in its ways. Come find a sparkling gem of a friend with just a little left to polish; your grand family asset here, and her name is “Tulsa.”

Her eyeliner’s as dramatic as a prima ballerina’s, and her velvety purr makes the perfect musical score — but this radiant 5-month old calico girl’s more nimble clown than graceful dancer; she’ll delight you with her antics, then rub her ultra-plush fur all over you just to heap pleasure on pleasure. “Neat” was found stray in Ware Shoals; she’s an immaculate calico phenom who loves others cats, is fine with dogs, and thinks everyone else is her special playmate. Her gentle humor and non-stop interest in you make her an exquisite companion — and a lovely choice for your kids, who know a snuggle-star when they meet one. Neat’s as tidy as her name but she’ll definitely make a mess of your heart — come see how quickly she’ll take center stage in your happy home.

Pets of the Week August 20, 2012

The commander of a sea vessel, he is not. But Skipper is the kind of dog that will have you skipping along and playing with him. This Jack Russell Terrier and Chihuahua mix is a joy of a dog. His love is indiscriminate. Adults, kids of all ages, and other dogs are a-okay by him and he welcomes anyone who wants to enjoy a romp in the yard or a leisurely walk. As much as Skipper loves to play, he also loves to sit and have quiet cuddle time. He simply enjoys being close to people and sharing his unconditional love.

This is Ronnie. He is a simple cat who relishes the simple things of life. What’s not simple about him is his looks. His brown and black striped tabby coat and hypnotic green eyes are stunning. It seems that Ronnie doesn’t know just how handsome he is, which makes him even more endearing. A gentle rub down his back will get you the sweetest return of affection, then he’ll look up at you with his emerald green eyes as if to say, “Why, thank you! I would like for us to be friends.” Ronnie keeps his living area spic and span and, as a matter of fact, he keeps himself quite tidy as well.

Pets of the Week August 13, 2012

Lets GO GO GO! Two-year-old Dottie is always as busy as a bee — a Blue Heeler and Siberian Husky bee, that is. Have a task that needs handled? Give it to Dottie. She’s an “alpha” dog all the way, liking to take charge and be the leader of the pack. However, her delightful personality shines best when she’s the only dog. Older children would be a perfect match for her because she’s full of playful energy and relishes frolicking in a big open yard. Come visit Dottie and, if she’s asked politely, she will demonstrate how she can “sit” and “shake” — two sure signs of her highly developed “smartitude.”

Zeppelin is a one-of-a-kind cat who will give you a whole lotta love leaving you dazed and confused. He’s no heartbreaker, but your time is gonna come and you’ll realize that he’s the cat for you. And that’s the way it’s gonna be. Through good times, bad times, Zeppelin will be your stairway to heaven. Zeppelin’s currently at Petco where he can be seen in the morning or in the evening. We won’t ramble on any more about how wonderful he is, but hey, hey what can he do to get you to bring him on home?

Help get a Sequel for Behind the Mask Made

I wanted to remind everyone about the efforts to fund a sequel to Behind the Mask: the Rise of Leslie Vernon. The kickstarter campaign only has 4 days left to go. Every little bit helps. Also with Kickstarter, you do not pay anything unless the funding goal is met.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/609017648/before-the-mask-the-return-of-leslie-vernon

So pledge $10. Heck pledge $1.

I loved the take Behind the Mask took on slasher films. It is a nice original story in the sea of mediocre remakes. It is by far one of my favorite horror films made in recent years.
