Porter
“Newfies” are known for being “nanny dogs,” but even at a year and full grown, this Newfoundland/Chow mix Porter’s more bouncing boy than babysitter; his white grin peaks out of his dense black and white coat every second; never was a youngster more eager to please, or more capable. Porter was found stray in Hodges, he’s 60 lbs. of devoted play and stunningly adorable; we’ve already taught him to “sit” and “lie down” for a treat, and we recommend sturdy kids to match his prance-caper-cavort tranquility — your yard will never witness a happier, or more loving, scene. Porter’s the go-to boy in his playgroup, his elated outlook extends to canine friends too, and he’s fine with a harness and leash, showing him off is a given. We invite you to count the seconds ’til Porter makes you laugh; feel your own tender smile emerge the moment you meet your joyful new son.

KC
Maybe she’s a sport fisherman like her ancestors’ famous owner, but our six-toed “Hemingway cat” KC loves to paddle her magnificent mitts in her water bowl; she has the gentlest, cleanest (and most rudder-like) paws between here and Key West, and her personality’s as distinctively fun as her drinking habits. KC’s four years old, a roll on her back, rub-purr-thrilled to see you, inside-outside kind of friend, with a pretty brown face and a soft tiger body; she tolerates other pets patiently, but her focus is on excitingly human YOU. She’ll pursue you avidly through all your life’s deep seas; an everyday companion who never stops prizing you. Feel how flattering it is to be someone’s big game, and how lovely it is to be forever lured by a six-toed fisher-cat called KC.

K.C. is currently available at Petsmart located at 201 Hospitality Blvd. in Greenwood.

Bubba
He’s a boxer/shepherd too calm to box and a strapping southern boy too polite to be anything but house trained. At 4 years old Bubba’s disposition’s as grand as his strong, sculpted body — a tug of war with his favorite rope toy’s as close as he comes to conflict; he’ll roll on his back for a delicious belly rub, give an XL size kiss, then gallop away just to show off and come back — all without bumping you — he understands his size and behaves accordingly. “Plays well with others” is a Bubba-understatement; he enjoys dogs pals and is respectfully adoring of kids, his leash-walking’s a thing of beauty, and he loves to learn, he’s already been taught him to “sit” and “lie down.” Bubba’s niceness knows no bounds but a fence won’t hold him if he feels neglected; he sees himself as a cherished member of your family, an inside-outside son who’ll quietly remind you to keep your feet off the coffee table. Meet your new forever-unflappable friend and see how fun good manners can be; Bubba’s here to have and to hold, you won’t take home a finer prize..

Mulligan
In golf lingo “mulligan” means a do-over, but no creative second chance is needed for this pristinely beautiful youth; at 11 months our Mulligan’s half shy, half lover-boy and 100% breathtaking, all in his own tender way. Mulligan was turned in because his owner had “too many animals;” he’ll hesitate only for a second before showing you that beneath his forever-small frame his affection’s as dreamily abundant as his long downy coat. Mulligan’s gentle, intelligent, appreciative, and fine with other pets — the gift of a lifetime for your kids or your opportunity to return the rarefied warmth of a porcelain-perfect cat. See that the first time’s a charm when it comes to meeting Mulligan, and don’t even bother to hold onto your heart — it’s already his.

Pets of the Week March 11, 2013

Glen
Come meet him and you’ll see that he is both loving and lovable, laid-back and liquid, and yes, he’s a good listener, too. Glen’s a brindle and white English Pointer/Retriever mix friend in the making, who will sit when politely asked, loves treats, and walks on a leash like a model on the catwalk; he’s approximately three to four years young and full of easygoing energy. Though dignified, sweet-natured, and gentle, he is packed with energy and belongs with an active owner who will give him the running exercise he needs to feel satisfied. Come meet Glen and enjoy the fun and companionship he will give you today and always.

Soot
Sit down for a quiet conversation with him and you’ll begin to realize how much this three-year-old, ebony black feline friend has transformed. Soot, once very shy and afraid, has finally learned that people can be kind and it’s okay to trust and allow himself to be loved. He’s come so far out of his shell that now he sits at his cage door greeting people as they arrive — a far cry from the cat who used to hide under his bed! He enjoys the company of other cats and will love a kind human, like you, the best. Visit Soot and you’ll discover how much fun a reformed introvert can be; his heart and soul are packed and ready to make your and his life complete.

Pets of the Week March 4, 2013

Nacho
Come meet him and you’ll see that he’s smart and silly, playful and prankish, and yes, he’s dignified too. Nacho is a Whippet mix friend in the making, he’s 10 months young and full of energy. He would be a great addition to a family with kids or adults who enjoy an active lifestyle he can share. (He loves to go on walks!) Whippets are know to grow up to be “couch potatoes” and make excellent house dogs; so after these early teen years, he will enjoy watching TV with you as much as running around the yard playing.

Ansel
Sit down for a fine conversation with Ansel and you’ll begin to understand how brilliant, distinguished, and stately this three-year-old Brown Mackeral Tabby friend can be. Ansel’s social skills are as extraordinary as the rest of him. He enjoys the company of other cats and is just the gentle cat-friend you’d trust with your children, he keeps a tidy box and would be happy spending his time inside your happy home. Discover how seriously snuggly a cat-companion can be; Ansel’s heart and soul are packed and ready to start a long, beautiful friendship with you.
