“Newfies” are known for being “nanny dogs,” but even at a year and full grown, this Newfoundland/Chow mix Porter’s more bouncing boy than babysitter; his white grin peaks out of his dense black and white coat every second; never was a youngster more eager to please, or more capable. Porter was found stray in Hodges, he’s 60 lbs. of devoted play and stunningly adorable; we’ve already taught him to “sit” and “lie down” for a treat, and we recommend sturdy kids to match his prance-caper-cavort tranquility — your yard will never witness a happier, or more loving, scene. Porter’s the go-to boy in his playgroup, his elated outlook extends to canine friends too, and he’s fine with a harness and leash, showing him off is a given. We invite you to count the seconds ’til Porter makes you laugh; feel your own tender smile emerge the moment you meet your joyful new son.
Maybe she’s a sport fisherman like her ancestors’ famous owner, but our six-toed “Hemingway cat” KC loves to paddle her magnificent mitts in her water bowl; she has the gentlest, cleanest (and most rudder-like) paws between here and Key West, and her personality’s as distinctively fun as her drinking habits. KC’s four years old, a roll on her back, rub-purr-thrilled to see you, inside-outside kind of friend, with a pretty brown face and a soft tiger body; she tolerates other pets patiently, but her focus is on excitingly human YOU. She’ll pursue you avidly through all your life’s deep seas; an everyday companion who never stops prizing you. The Greenwood Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization committed to the compassionate care and protection of animals.
Their purpose is to give sanctuary to abandoned, abused, and neglected animals, provide education to the public on responsible and humane pet ownership, encourage the public to spay and neuter their pets by providing low cost surgery, and encourage adoptions of those animals placed in their care.
