Don’t Breathe

Starring: Stephen Lang, Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto

dontbreath2Don’t Breathe opens on 3 young adults, Rocky, Alex & Money burgling a residence in Detroit. It is shown that they are using keys and security codes from the home security company where Alex’s father works. Alex is constantly warning about how much to take to keep the crime from becoming a felony. They are given information on a potentially large score: a blind man who received a large settlement after his daughter was killed in an auto accident. We get a little character development on the 3 youths as to why they would risk going after a large score. Rocky and Money are going to go to California with Rocky’s daughter. Alex decides he will go with them. We see he is hopelessly pining after Rocky.

The 3 youths break in to the house and promptly realize they picked the wrong house to break in to. I forgot to mention the blind man served in the military until he was blinded. What follows is a long fight to escape the house with or without the cash.

TL;DR Fun movie to watch with a crowd. You will empathize with the blind man, then the burglars, then the blind man again, then the burglars…

SSposterThis movie takes place after the events of Batman v Superman. Amanda Waller meets with some people and pushes her idea of Task Force X in a world without Superman. We spend a good chunk of the first part of the movie team-building. We get little snippets of how each person was apprehended. Which includes a few Batman scenes and one Flash scene. After the higher ups get a glimpse of what the Enchantress can do, Task Force X gets the greenlight.

Task Force X gets deployed after a failed mission by Rick Flagg and the Enchantress to stop a meta human threat in the subways of Midway city. Much gun play and violence ensue. Throughout the film, we follow the Joker as he works to get Harley Quinn out of custody.

TL;DR Didn’t feel like a complete story – had good segments. Kinda Meh.

After Martin’s father is killed by a mysterious presence in the dark, he starts having trouble sleeping at night. School officials notice him sleeping in class and attmept to call his mother, Sophie, but cannot get an answer. They call his sister, Rebecca, and she comes to pick him up. We learn that Rebecca had distanced herself from her mother and her father went away because of her mother’s mental issues when she goes off her meds. Turns out the mother has a friend named Diana that does not like lights. Rebecca, her boyfriend Bret, and Martin look into Sophie’s past for a hint on the very real, very supernatural, Diana. We get jump scares galore and an ending that leaves room for a sequel, but has satisfying closure regardless.

TL;DR: Fun movie with Jump Scares and an ending that goes to places you do not normally go to. See it with a crowd in the theater.

STBCheckovWe open with the Enterprise about halfway through its 5 year mission with a disillusioned Captain Kirk. The ship heads to a space station that looks very luxurious. While there, a lone ship comes in requesting aid. The pilot mentions that her crew had to abandon their ship and land on a planet within the nearby nebula. The Enterprise heads out to help and gets ambushed. The crew of the Enterprise end up imprisoned on the planet by Krall. Kirk, Checkov, Spock, Bones, Scotty work with local resident Jaylah to free the prisoners and escape the planet. While they are planning their rescue, we learn that Krall is looking for a bio-weapon that was on-board the Enterprise and he wants to use it against the Federation.

TL;DR Enjoyed it. Felt like an episode in a good way. See this on the big screen!!
