Pets of the Week July 13, 2015

Darla
Darla is a darling of a dog who loves all people. And her appreciation and desire for companionship is solely for people, not other dogs. At three-years-young, this hazel brown Retriever mix loves giving attention as much as receiving it and would be the perfect doggie BFF. She readily admits to being a toy hoarder and can spend hours alone playing with her amassed playthings. Full of joyful energy and spunk, Darla is entertaining and will bring a lot of fun into someone’s life. Visit and spend time with this one-sided lop-eared love and let her show you how to really have fun.

Regina
Regina is a gorgeous medium-haired Diluted Calico. Her wispy soft, tri-colored coat feels like she was rubbed down with a dryer sheet. She’s two-years-old and a wee bit shy; but don’t mistake her introverted persona as lacking in love. Quite the opposite, she thoroughly enjoys ear scratches and any other kind gestures of affection. She just prefers to choose when she wants held or to sit in a cozy lap. A quiet, low-key home is where she would be happy and thrive most. Give her space and she’ll reward you with her trust and love. This former stray is ready for a stable, long-term, and loving home. Visit Petsmart in Greenwood to get a peek at this rare feline jewel.

Pets of the Week July 6, 2015

Blaze
Blaze is a three-month-young, female Plott Hound and Spaniel mix and a literal burst of energy. She runs hard. She plays hard. She lives hard. Fortunately for her future family, she recently graduated from Camp Good Dog with full honors and has learned some of the “tricks” of being a mature, well-behaved doggie. As a young, progressive pup, she does not discriminate on who she befriends. Dogs and cats alike are both loved with equal acceptance, as well as the occasional visiting squirrel. Blaze will light up your home with love and laughter and that is a deal no one should pass up.

Oscar
A five-month-old Brown Tabby kitten is Oscar. Unlike his Sesame Street namesake, this Oscar is full of fuzzy fun and prefers a couch to a trash can. His medium-length coat is sure to be stunning after he’s fully grown and the weather is cooler. For now, he looks a little like he took a rolling dive across a carpeted floor and has been infused with static electricity. And don’t even mention his ear hair. The potential uses for that attribute are endless: catching flies, tickling human ankles and shins, providing shade for smaller pets, and sweeping the floor. But his best feature is his big heart. Oscar is one amusing kitty and guaranteed to bring joy, entertainment, and jocularity to someone’s life.

Pets of the Week June 29, 2015

Gilligan
Like the goofy, but lovable, character from 70s TV, this Gilligan’s antics are sure to make you laugh out loud and shake your head. He’s a 7-month-old Retriever and Terrier mix whose one floppy ear and big wide grin make him one heck of an endearing pooch. Medium-sized in stature and large in life, he gets along with other dogs and cats. A recent graduate of Camp Good Dog for Kids, Gilligan is ready to move off this “tropical island” and in to the happy embrace of a loving, active home.

Mimi
Alas, Mimi had a home, but where she was living didn’t allow cats. So to no fault of hers or her family’s, she was brought to the shelter in hopes that she could be rehomed. This 3-year-old short-haired Gray Tabby is on the slightly chunky side and, rather than being picked up, prefers to choose where she rests, which usually is on someone’s lap. A quieter home would be ideal for Ms. Mimi, so she would be a perfect feline friend for older folks or new “empty nesters.” A tidy cat is she, and a wonderful pet she’ll be.

Pets of the Week June 22, 2015

Neptune
Neptune’s baby blue eyes might be the stunning feature that first captures your attention, but it’s her peaceful and serene personality that will win your heart. She’s a 5 year old Beagle mix who’s ready to become your newest family member. Her house manners are superb and she could easily live inside any size home. She also keeps her “go with the flow” attitude around other pets, so living with cats and dogs will be no problem for this beautiful lady. She is a medium-sized gal who only needs a best friend to spend the summer afternoon sitting side-by-side. Neptune is a little slice of serenity, barking only when she finds herself on the side of the fence that her friends are not and she’s ready to fill in the missing piece of your families puzzle.

Stoney
Silly and swift, Stoney is a kitten lover’s dream. At seven months old, he still has all the playful exuberance of a tiny fuzz ball and will likely be a fun loving cat forever. Stoney has a creamy, orange tabby coat with little white mittens that are perfect for getting into laughable mischief. Since he is deaf, he will need a home where he can be kept indoors, but that will simply make it easier to watch his acrobatic performances. Indoor life will be easy-peasy for this purring machine as his litter box manners are top notch and he prefers to be playing with you in the air conditioning anyway. Stoney does just fine around other pets, but his deafness combined with his acrobatic efforts at becoming the king of the jungle, make him better suited for homes without small children. Come add some sizzle and spice to your summer fun and visit with Stoney today!

Pets of the Week June 15, 2015

Rambo
Always ready to follow your lead, Rambo is the spunky little pal you’ve been dreaming of. He’s 15 lbs of plucky fun and will fit right into most apartments’ size requirements. He’s a perfect gentleman on leash walks, and has been showing his Camp Good Dog kid just how fun caring for a furry friend can be. Rambo has a scruffy, wire, coat in a blond shade that Hollywood starlets would envy. He is 4 years old, enjoys the finer things in life, and would be best suited for an indoor home. Rambo gets along swimmingly with cats and dogs alike but he does require frequent naps to reboot from his entertaining antics. Being in a home with small children may not be his cup of tea. Come and meet Rambo and let him show you his favorite stuffed toy. He’ll steal your heart as soon as your game of fetch begins!

Neka
Neka has been a true life saver at the shelter. This beautiful black and white feline arrived with a litter of her own and proved that her motherly love knows no limits. A litter of orphaned kittens was brought in and Neka adopted and raised them as well. This one-year-old kitty is very laid back and patient and her house manners are excellent. She doesn’t mind sharing, so a house with other pets won’t bother her one bit. Neka has earned a happy ending to her story and is ready to become a member of your family today. She hopes you’ll find her soft purr irresistible and it’ll be love at first sight when you look into her yellow golden eyes.
