Pet of the Week – September 5, 2011

At just 8 months old Venus has keen eyes and ears, but mostly she’s keen on you; she loves to play, but will quickly abandon her pursuits to run to your side and give gentle kisses. Her potential is limitless and her willingness to please is instinctive, with just a little time and training she’ll polish up to a perfect family dog.

Maybe she was trying to see her cousins in Key West when she escaped from her cage and climbed up on the roof –the famous cats at the Hemingway mansion, the ones with 6-toes, just like her. No matter, tiny Myrtle and her big white mitten feet are safely back in her cage now, where she stays busy being the exemplary one-year-old lady cat that she is, and keeping the 6-toe white mittens as clean and sweet as the rest of her, which is very clean and sweet indeed.

The Greenwood Humane Society is a not-for-profit organization committed to the compassionate care and protection of animals.

Their purpose is to give sanctuary to abandoned, abused, and neglected animals, provide education to the public on responsible and humane pet ownership, encourage the public to spay and neuter their pets by providing low cost surgery, and encourage adoptions of those animals placed in their care.
