Pets of the Week October 28, 2013

Silvia
Most dog friends will run to greet you; our shining young Lab/Border Collie mix Silvia literally prances — she prances to you, around you, and to retrieve the toy you throw; a year-and-a-half year old girl so ecstatic to see you she’s barely earth-bound. Silvia came to us homeless and skinny but now she’s vigorous in every way, with energy as nonstop as her affection. She’ll give you a kiss without losing her gorgeous pink and white smile, and hug you with attention, every minute. Silvia’s mind’s as keen as her social skills; she’s eager to learn and please, and she gets along easily with other dogs, too. See what serious frolicking is, then feel how sweet it is to play for keeps with a girl as bursting with heart and soul as Silvia.

Fiona
She’s a cat carved from alabaster, serene and statuesque, but then how can a sculpture be so warm and soft, and how can a soothing purr emerge the moment you touch it (her)? Our 2-year-old Fiona is more than a vision in pure white, she’s real and someone’s lost darling; a stunning beauty of a stray with delicate pink ears that know shelter from the sun, accustomed to being loved and admired, and confidently returning all the adoration she inspires. Pick her up and she’ll settle in your arms as if she’s known you forever, a perceptive friend and immediate ally, intelligent and refined, with manners that make others seems oafish. Go see Fiona — she’s waiting patiently at Petsmart — and see how quickly she comes alive when you meet her, and how happy her unblemished friendship makes you feel.
