Pets of the Week September 18, 2017

Long-bodied, thick and stocky with legs shorter than his ears, Beau is a dog you can’t forget. This silly bundle of Basset Hound and Black Labrador loves to gallivant through with no particular destination in mind. His favorite activity is to dawdle in the yard and smell everything. He’s hoping to find something of interest, even if it is just a rock. Friendly, spunky, and as good natured as anyone could be, Beau is just a good ol’ boy with a big ol’ heart.

Never has a cat been born for the spotlight than Alexis. This brown and orange Tortoiseshell kitty may look like she’s royalty, but she’s nothing but a funny little flirt. Whether she’s nuzzling her head into your folded arms, slinking around your legs, or purring loudly as you scratch behind her ear, she’s pure love and fun. This one-year-old golden gal is destined to be someone’s best feline friend.

Don’t be surprised if you find yourself singing a tune when you’re around Melody. This spunky, medium-sized, 3 ½-year-old is contagiously happy. She enjoys chasing balls, playing with toys and especially spending time with other dogs. At first, Melody may behave a little shyly, but a little attention and some tasty treats will have her curled up next to you in no time. With a blacker than black coat and perfectly perky ears, this super sweet pup is a super doggie friend.

Black, white and cute all over, Caleb is a uniquely marked, 3-month-old kitten with the perfect combination of calm, fun and frisky. Living nicely with other kittens and adult cats, Caleb is ready to chase, be chased, and toss around his toys with other feisty felines. When he’s in your arms, he’s relaxed to the max, falling asleep and purring at the highest volume. Sporting a black bow tie on his snow white suit, he’s one sophisticated kitty with a little dose of moxie.

Murphy is a Terrier mix with good looks, an ear-to-ear grin, and a calm, cool demeanor. He’s a friend to both doggies and people and will join the group for a nice jog, a relaxing stroll, or a flat-out race to the finish. If you’re not into exercising, no worries. Just throw a ball and let him do it. This playful, year-old, light brindle and white fella just wants to spend time with a family of his own. If you’re in the market for a devoted, new friend, Murphy is willing to take the job.

Three-year-old Angelica wears a bright white coat with perfectly shaped, black wings on her shoulders making her quite the sight to behold. To get attention, she forms a figure eight passing around and through the legs of any and all bystanders. She’s an independent lady preferring to choose when, or if, to be picked up. Pets of the Week August 28, 2017

Rosalie is the dog who makes everyone say, “Awwwww.” This 2-year-old, reddish brown brindle Terrier mix is an attention-getter with that one ear that points straight up to the sky, while the other flops downward toward the ground. She’s very good at wagging her little body onto an available lap and into everyone’s heart, all the while giving tender kisses and sloppy grins. But she’s most famous for her tiny tongue as it hangs out her between her flopsy little jowls. No need to look any further for the dog of your dreams because she’s available now at the Greenwood County Animal Shelter.

Paprika certainly is the spice of life, but this 3½-month-old tends to lean toward the milder version of the seasoning. She’s content to be curled up and lounging in a cushy, round bed and spending evenings with candlelight and soft music. Having company with a fellow feline brings out a little playfulness in Paprika, but after not much time she settles back down for her precious beauty sleep. A brilliant black and winter white coat, complete with little black gloves, Paprika gives a calm, relaxed home the perfect amount of flavor.

The perfect combination of all things good, Sweet Pea is the coveted family dog and perfect canine pal.
