LolaSaying that Lola is special would be an understatement. This precious pup is already a bit of a celebrity, as her story has been in the news. She’s an 11-month-old tan and white terrier mix with a huge grin and ears that are truly impressive. And the fact that she only has 3 legs may seem to be her most prominent feature, but once you see her running around happily and snuggling in any available lap, you’ll realize this detail means nothing to her. It does, perhaps, make her unique, but it’s just one of many singularly delightful things about her. Come meet lovely Lola today.

FelixFelix might not be quite as comical as his famous cartoon namesake, but he is certainly just as appealing. This 9-month-old black and white tuxedo kitty is easy on the eyes with his gorgeous markings that include a bright white mustache and four white socks. Plus, he’s a rather laidback fellow, seeming to accept everything around him with a happy-go-lucky attitude. He enjoys a good scratch session and even allows his humans to give him snuggles, contentment and intelligence radiating from his golden-yellow eyes. Felix is waiting to meet you

JerryJerry is a free-spirited fellow with a big heart, a sweet face, and a desire to please that makes him just about perfect. He’s a handsome 7-year-old Retriever mix with a tan coat accented with white on his chest and neck and up across his muzzle and between his chocolate brown eyes. As you would expect of his breed, Jerry isn’t short on energy, and he’d love to have a big yard in which to run. He isn’t particularly interested in toys, however, preferring to play with other dogs or people instead. And he never says no to a tasty treat. Swing by and meet Jerry today.

VeronicaVeronica’s beauty is definitely more than fur deep. She’s sweet, curious, and loving. But it is certainly her looks that will grab your attention initially. She’s a gorgeous Calico with eye-catching markings on her face and huge yellow-green eyes. Veronica, like many cats, truly enjoys her nap time, and she is quite content to enjoy her own company, although she doesn’t turn down pets and scratches, usually making muffins and purring when her humans come for some love. This wonderful cat is sure to make some lucky family very happy.

Pets of the Week April 15, 2019

AnastasiaAnastasia may sound like she belongs to some royal family, but she’s actually quite down-to-earth – a kind, laidback dog with a good heart and a gentle soul. She’s just over 2 years old, and even though she is quite young and a Labrador retriever mix, she tends to be calm rather than overly energetic. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t like to run and play. She’d be delighted to have a home with a fenced-in yard or the opportunity to go on long walks with her new family. Pretty Anastasia is simply a wonderful pup looking for someone to love her as much as she’ll love them. Come meet her today.

HoneyHoney is a lovely 5-month-old Calico kitty with truly stunning markings and big yellow-green eyes. And she has a gentle, sweet personality to match her good looks. She isn’t afraid to ask for attention, happily accepting any scratches and snuggles she can get, and returning that affection with a prompt purr and even a kiss or two. Being such a young cat, she is sure to be playful and energetic, so she’s hoping to find a home where she can be just as fun and mischievous as she’d like to be. Come claim Honey before someone else does.

Shazam!

Shazam! was a much lighter DC movie than we have been getting.

Shazam! is the story of Billy Batson, a foster child, gaining the power to turn into a super powered adult by saying Shazam. We get the tried and true story arc of the protagonist not being heroic right away, but they grow as the movie goes on.

Shazam! takes more of a New 52 story direction for the character as opposed to his history from Fawcett comics.

Shazam has a lot of beats that are going to jump out at comic fans, but not interfere with anyone’s movie going experience. I mean, we get a Mr. Mind cameo. Mr. Mind. A tiny alien worm with a speaker box around his neck. We do get all the basics. Billy Batson. The wizard, Shazam. Mary. Freddy. Tigers. Dr. Sivana (a lot different than I recall). The Seven Deadly Sins. Etc.

The mid credits scene promises something to come in the next film or the third. The after credits scene is not needed – but was a fun addition.

Starring: Zachary Levi, Mark Strong, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Djimon Hounsou, Faithe Herman, Grace Fulton, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Marta Milans, Cooper Andrews

Synopsis:
We all have a superhero inside of us — it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In 14-year-old Billy Batson’s case, all he needs to do is shout out one word to transform into the adult superhero Shazam. Still a kid at heart, Shazam revels in the new version of himself by doing what any other teen would do — have fun while testing out his newfound powers. But he’ll need to master them quickly before the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana can get his hands on Shazam’s magical abilities.

CocoaCocoa is just as sweet as his name suggests. A big, goofy 3-year-old Chocolate Labrador mix with loads of energy and a ready smile for everyone he meets. Like most of his breed, he’s a fan of toys – specifically tennis balls – and nothing makes him happier than the chance to chase one around the yard. Cocoa is hoping for a family who will provide him with as much love as he has in his own heart. Affectionate and eager to please, this handsome fellow is going to make someone very happy for many years to come.

ScarlettScarlett is a true lady in feline form. Her sleek orange and black coat is lovely, but her eyes are nothing short of stunning. Bright yellow-gold, they are captivating and exhibit her intelligence as well as her gentle soul. Scarlett is just over a year old. She’s playful but also delighted to simply snuggle and enjoy the company of her human companions. She’s spent time around kids and dogs and proven herself to be both accepting and relaxed. Come meet Scarlett today, for this beauty is sure to be popular and may not stay long.
