Pets of the Week March 20, 2017

What can be said about Keith? A lot as a matter of fact! He’s a burning, churning ball of playful energy and endless love. His medium build is 100% muscle and his brain 100% smarts. He learns very quickly and a family who patiently works with him will be dazzled by the genius and fun they’ll have in their midst. Attention and affection are as good as gold to Keith and the more he gets, the more beautiful life becomes. Between his adorable underbite and his quick, “I’m listening” head-tilt, this brindle man-dog is quite the head turner and canine comic.

Judging by his shyness and battered body, Brutus had been living a challenging life before he ended up at the shelter. He initially hid and shied away indicating he had a clear fear and distrust toward people. Once in good hands, he received regular meals and loving attention and he has now blossomed in many ways. Not only is he more allowing about being picked up and held, he freely purrs expressing his newfound peace with life, and he’s gained three pounds! His sunshine yellow eyes sparkle with a joy that’s showing his true personality and he’s coming out of his shell more and more every day.

Pets of the Week March 13, 2017

Peppy Pepper is a charming little fella with the perfect combination of spunk and charisma. Black as coal with expressive greenish-yellow eyes, this medium-sized cat loves to strut by you and flip his tail high in the air, confidently showing off his good looks. Need a friend to talk to? Chatty Pepper will carry on a colorful conversation about whatever you feel is a hot topic. At just 8 months old, he’s still a little uncertain of dogs, but he appreciates the companionship of other cats. Most of all, he loves a gentle ear rub and soft petting from his humans. Be sure to stop by Petsmart and visit him. You’ll notice his pleasant demeanor right away.

Want a dog whose happiness is as bright as the sunshine? Do you enjoy being active, taking long walks, and then relaxing in front of the TV with your favorite companion? Then Curtis is the dog for you! At 2 years old, he’s an impressive sight with a perfect smile and athletic build. He’s proud of his deep black and chestnut brown brindle color, and the bold contrast of white on his forehead, nose, chin, and chest. Solid and strong, this Terrier mix is ideal for chasing balls, hiking, or any other vigorous exercise. Passionate and fun, you’ll find Curtis passing out kisses while welcoming good people and good times.

Logan

I caught Logan and it gave a nice cap to the Fox X-Men series and High Jackman’s run as Wolverine.

Logan definitely earns its R rating. Plenty of violence and foul language (some from an unexpected source) with brief nudity. I would not recommend bringing young children to see this movie.

We are introduced to a world 29 years removed from the events of the first X-Men movie. A world seemingly without mutants and a Wolverine showing the effects of aging and a slowed down healing factor. We get introduced to Laura (X-23) at the same time Logan does.

At first Laura seems like a normal if mute little girl. Until she is not. She turns into a little Tasmanian Devil , Whirling Dervish of destruction. Easily more violent and vicious than we have seen Logan before. Then, we get the road trip from Hell with Logan, Laura and Professor X.

This movie leaves the door open for more future films in this series, but also leaves it at a good finishing point. Barring the Deadpool franchise, I would love to see a reboot of the X-Men movies with different people at the helm.

FYI, There are no mid-credit or post-credit scenes.

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Dafne Keen, Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant, Richard E. Grant, Jason Genao

Simon says, “Look at this Frisbee!” Simon says, “Now throw it for me!” This adult-aged natural born entertainer isn’t a demanding dog, it’s all fun and games to him. He’s a 45 lb barrel of monkeys wanting an active family to call his own. This fella is a mix of Retriever and Terrier and his antics demonstrate the most fun traits of each. He often plays fetch with himself, throwing toys in the air and leaping to catch them, but having people to play with would more fun. Older children and any who are young at heart are right up this goofball’s alley. Visit Simon and you’ll see that every time he meets a new friend he can’t wait to start having a good time together! Simon says “Let’s get started!”

Kit Kat, patty whack, give her ear a rub, this sweet cat will give you love. Full of surprises, this 7-year young Oreo look-alike kitty will keep you laughing. You may think she’s fast asleep, but then she’ll suddenly somersault onto her back and chirp a few cat words to coax you into giving her a belly rub. Then she’ll peek at you through one of her honeydew melon green eyes and melodically purr to show you her satisfaction. Adoring of humans she is, but other kitties and dogs not so much. Visit your one true love who’s waiting in kitty condo number two.

Pets of the Week February 27, 2017

Truman is a cat who truly needs rescuing. This former stray, black-and-white man-cat seems to have some emotional baggage. But his needs are real simple and require no effort. He needs to be given space. He needs your patience. He needs to be allowed to choose when and how he will be your friend. But, oh boy, once you pass his vetting process, you will have found an eternal soulmate who will offer nonstop affection and conversation. Consider adopting Truman and give him the chance to enjoy a full life on his terms.

Rosaline, what a dream. It seems that she had dreams of being a show dog because her resting stance is that of a Westminster Kennel Club champion. She enjoys prancing around the yard like a dancing queen while holding her favorite toy in her mouth. Her doggie ego prefers that she be the only pet in the family, but she sure does love people — the more the merrier. She’s not only a sight to behold, she would be a great walking buddy and indoor family friend.
