Diesel
Where he learned his enviable manners is the utmost mystery; one-year-old Shepherd mix Diesel was found stray, but he epitomizes the intelligence, loyalty and trustworthiness for which shepherds are revered. At 70 lbs. he’s glowingly handsome, a tall, gentle, boy who delighted the kids at Camp Good Dog with kisses and full-body-wags. Diesel’s a fun friend to other dogs; he loves romping the yard and dunking his head in his water bowl, but enjoys listening and learning just as much (he can “sit” for a treat and is great on a leash, too.) Come write your own ending to the Diesel mystery; he’s already neutered and ready to be a proud part of your family story.

Kitty
She came to us with the most understated of names, simply “Kitty,” a 5 year-old declawed darling whose owner was forced to turn her in, leaving her shy and wide-eyed, but willing. Kitty’s determined to love her new family as thoroughly as she loved her last; you’ll fall for her quiet courage and perceptive face in a minute. Kitty must be your inside cat, she gets along fine with other felines, keeps a neat box, and would enjoy older kids who’ll be as gentle with her as she will with them. Come meet the bashful feline who has eons to offer, and be the lucky
second family to our one and only Kitty.

Pets of the Week June 30, 2014

Rambler
Fuse Great Pyrenees patience and composure with Border Collie intelligence, then throw in some Lab for all-American appeal and you have a 50 lb. friend (he’s only 3 and more polite than most of us, no offense) so charming you must meet him to believe him. Rambler won popularity contests paws-down at Camp Good Dog; he’s a dream with kids — fun, gentle and trustworthy, and a go-to playmate for other dogs too. Handsome Rambler’s a delightful medium-size; he thrives on learning and can already sit for a treat, he’s great on a leash and will kennel himself on request. (You can even pick him up like a baby.) Rambler could easily be your inside son, with a yard for playtime please; he’s fine with cats and ready to become the most beloved member of your family. Come meet the mixed-breed, pure-pleasure phenom named Rambler.

Rose
Torti cats bring good luck according to Irish lore; whoever adopts our richly-colored 3-year-old “Rose” will be fortunate indeed. At 9 lbs. and full grown Rose will be forever small — a sweet, quiet and independent little lady — neat as a pin with her box, and the very opposite of needy in terms of personality. Rose is perfect for gracing a quiet home (one with older kids or none at all); she’ll live happily inside/outside, or sharing your apartment would be fun too. Rose enjoys her own space and demands little else, she simply wants to keep you company; with some nice
snuggles, of course. (She ignore other cats, her focus is you.) See how easy it is to feel lucky every day, with a steadfast little girl named Rose by your side.

Pets of the Week June 23, 2014

Nemo
His 24/7 pink and white smile is outshone only by his nonstop full-body wag; 3 year old American Pit Bull Terrier/Boxer mix Nemo is 40 lbs. of playful adoration, a gorgeous, fun-sized athlete with golden freckles as warm as his disposition. Nemo will “sit” for a treat, comes galloping when you call him, loves other dog friends (he’s even patient with puppies), walks proudly on a leash, thinks cats are fine and enjoys a nice pull toy too. He needs nothing more than a family to bask in his abiding affection, some training to show what a fast learner he is, and a yard where he can show off his chiseled form and boundless energy. Nemo’s neutered and ready to complete your life today, come claim his unfailing friendship.

Black Jack
Don’t bother to conjure the handsomest long-haired Tuxedo cat imaginable, one with a splendid coat, statuesque form, big fluffy white paws, eyes the color of Luna moths, a silent meow and a soft, loving purr — 5 year old Black Jack’s here, all 13 gentle, intelligent lbs. of him. Black Jack was his owner’s darling; he’s civilized, social, attentive, and always ready with a warm head butt. He gets along fine with other pets, keeps himself groomed beautifully and tends a tidy box, too. We picture him as part of a loving family with older kids, or becoming a seriously stylish sidekick to the devoted single who recognizes a dream companion come true. Black Jack was neutered long ago, make him yours today and see how ravishing reality can be.

Pets of the Week June 16, 2014

Buster
From the moment you meet him, 2-year-old Golden Retriever mix Buster’s magnificent breed background is abundantly clear — his lustrous auburn coat and patient ability to “sit” and “wait” before retrieving, the gentle, loving way he treats you, and even his penchant for jumping in our baby pool (the shelter doesn’t have a lake) all point to his distinguished family-dog ancestry. Buster’s full of good will — playful, intelligent, cooperative and a natural learner; he enjoys other dogs, is good on a leash, and would thrive in almost any home in which he receives the attention he so richly deserves. He’s brimming with health but is overweight, currently trimming down easily. Claim your glorious Golden boy; Buster promises to be the forever-champion of your heart.

Begonia
The lovely orange markings in her soft gray coat make her as pretty as the flower she’s named for, but her most lavish bloom by far is her BIG loving purr. Three-year-old Begonia comes happily when she’s called, she’ll lean in for a rub and settle down to keep you company; she gets along fine with other cats, keeps a tidy space, and adores everyone, your kids included. (Oops, except for dogs. Begonia’s anti-dog, she hasn’t told us why, but apparently it’s non-negotiable.) Begonia could live inside-only or inside/outside, as long as she can grace you with her BIG purr-love as often as possible. Go see Begonia at PetSmart today and feel how your heart blossoms.

Pets of the Week June 9, 2014

Charlene
You could call her an unpolished gem, but beautiful Black Lab/American Pit Bull mix Charlene’s so glossy she gleams; at one year and 41 pounds she’s done growing for sure, but her potential to become your well-trained family dog is as boundless as her energy. Charlene’s smile never stops; she’s great with other dogs, terrific on a leash, smart, attentive, athletic and yearning to be your sidekick. Charlene needs an active family or single with a big yard to run in, and plenty of loving attention which she’ll return a thousand fold. See what a 41lb jewel looks like, and take her home to treasure forever.

Pita
Six-year-old Snowshoe mix “Pita” comes delightfully endowed with traits his ancestors are prized for — pale blue eyes, a lavishly affectionate disposition and an intelligent, people-loving personality. But some things he’s missing — he’s been declawed, and his teeth are missing, too. (That’s right, no teeth. We think he was born that way, please just moisten his food or serve yummy canned fare, he has no trouble eating.) No matter, when he stands on his back feet to rub his lovely markings on you, gentle Pita will capture your heart completely. Pita must live inside; he’d enjoy a relaxed home without too many pets, where he could devote himself to you (and your kids) utterly. See how incomplete your life has been without him, Pita’s already neutered and ready to join you today.
