Chocolate diamonds are all the rage for Valentine’s; but the kind that are already polished aren’t nearly as captivating as our year-and-a-half-young Lab mix “Merri” — she’s 45 lbs. of full throttle Fun-O-Meter, and her tender affection is equally dazzling. Merri came to us originally as a stray and she’s a trainer’s dream-girl — alert, attentive, treat-motivated and yearning to please; she adores a rope toy and throws her own tennis ball too, but she’ll abandon them both to race back to you. Merri would make a priceless companion for kids of all ages, she’s OK with cats and would enjoy being your only dog — her perfect setting is a devoted home with a spacious yard for romping and lots of love to give back. Typical for a Chocolate Lab (mix), Flip Flop is very social and especially loves the company of children. She’s a young dog, around one to two-years-old, and her youthful energy abounds. Flip Flop is also very well-mannered and walks well on a leash. (Leash walking is GREAT exercise and activity for her.) She recently returned from a month-long stint at Camp Chinquapin for Critters where she enjoyed time in a doggie play group and was schooled in good behavior. She is already spayed and ready to move into a home today!

Clara is currently at PetSmart for you to visit. Her etiquette lesson’s as warm and winsome as her face is in person, and her lovely demeanor makes you want to pour a nice cup of tea with her and chat away the problems of the world. Forget the “working dog” tradition his ancestors are known for, Siberian Husky and Terrier mix “Blaze” is way committed to play — the 4-year-old frisky, romping, prancing, dance around you kind. But call his name and he’ll abandon his game of fetch in an instant, give you a happy kiss and gracefully lie at your feet, too. Blaze was found stray — a medium-built handsome young man with miraculously gentle manners, genuinely wholesome and utterly charming, an excellent choice for even little kids; he’s friendly with other dogs and OK with cats, joyfully motivated by your attention and keenly eager to learn. Blaze is set be your stellar inside/outside dog; he enjoys a leash, keeps a clean, orderly run and is making good progress on his house-training. Her name’s “Zero” because we can’t begin to count all her delightful ways; her unusual markings alone are a treasure, as if at first she couldn’t decide whether to be clean white or soft gray; but they’re only a fun diversion from this 4-year-old’s infinite friendship, as vast as she is pint-sized, and patterned only with happy purrs, gentle head butts and intelligent meow-talk. Zero’s owner couldn’t keep her and regretfully turned her in, she gets along fine with other cats — dogs too — but you alone are the catnip of her delicately adoring heart. Zero would be a perfect pick for kids — cozy, affectionate, trustworthy and child-sized, a cat named for nothing who’ll be their everything. Marion was found stray, complete with manners so refined she’s too polite to shed; she’s calm in her kennel, affectionate and attentive when you let her out. Her love of a treat, avid intelligence and cooperative spirit make her achingly trainable — she already walks proudly on a leash and sits on command.
