Pets of the Week January 22, 2018

This pretty little Retriever mix may not be quite as funny as Lucille Ball, but her antics are sure to leave you laughing. Lucy is one of the happiest dogs you’ll ever meet, greeting everyone with kisses and a frantically wagging tail. She loves grown-ups and kids alike and seems eager to play with other pups. She’s an energetic small-to-medium-sized dog with a lovely tan coat accented with white, which runs down from the top of head to cover the right side of her muzzle. At just a little over a year old, Lucy has plenty of years ahead of her to love and be loved.

This adorable orange Tabby is looking for a home where he’ll get loads of attention. Vergil is laidback and a bit shy to begin with, but once he realizes he’s part of the family, he’ll return the affection he’s given tenfold. He would be delighted to have kitty brothers or sisters, so they can all play together and snuggle once the activity is over. This handsome 4-month-old kitty is sure to bring joy to any household. Visit Vergil at Petco in Greenwood.

Mayhem

This was an enjoyable blending of the Belko Experiment and 28 Days later. In Mayhem, a virus exists that lasts 8 hours and removes a person’s filters. Normally, you would not give in to that impulse hit the person you are arguing with. Under the effects of the Red Eye virus, you’re smacking that person.

What happens when you have a building filled with people in high stress jobs lose that filter? Where there is nothing holding them back from doing whatever pops into their heads.

A freaking good movie – that’s what.

I heard a review of this movie on the Trick or Treat Radio podcast and it intrigued me.

Steven Yeun pulls off the everyman vibe perfectly. Someone who is trying to hold onto a piece of their goodness in his chosen profession.

Samara Weaving gives another amazing performance here. Between this and the Babysitter, she is an actress to look out for in the future.

Starring: Steven Yeun, Samara Weaving, Steven Brand, Caroline Chikezie, Kerry Fox, Dallas Roberts, Mark Frost, Claire Dellamar, André Eriksen, Nick Kent

As soon as Russell gives you one of his trademark big grins and snuggly hugs, you’ll be sold. This 18-month-old black and white Labrador Retriever mix is as sweet as they come, and his personality definitely reflects the Lab side. He’s packed with energy and eager to please, and nothing makes him happier than getting a belly rub for good behavior. Russell seems to be accepting of other dogs, so he would probably be content to have furry brothers and sisters. Because he is quite young and very active, a large fenced-in yard would be ideal, so he can regularly stretch those super long legs.

If you’re a cat lover, Amelia will make your day and life. She’s about 2 years old and no longer living in the rambunctious kitten stage and has settled into a quiet, laid-back way of life. She’s now content to sit by a window and watch the fascinating things happening on the other side of the glass. This sweet-tempered Tabby is as pretty as she is calm and easy-going, displaying a beautiful orange blend throughout her brown coat of very soft hair.

Wolf Warrior 2

Fun action movie.

I first heard about this movie on the Trick or Treat Radio podcast. I jumped onto this one without seeing the first entry in the series. I will probably catch the first one (streaming on Netflix as of Dec 2017).

You have the main character from the first movie, Leng Feng, heading to Africa after leaving the military. Some rebels attempt to take over the country he is currently in and Action Movie ™ ensues. We get enough plot to keep Leng Feng in the midst of the action.

The stunts and gun play were amazing. The CGI blood less so. Two words. Improvised Crossbow.

Starring: Jing Wu, Frank Grillo, Celina Jade, Gang Wu, Hans Zhang, Qian Yu, Nan Yu, Shanshan Chunyu, Haifeng Ding, Oleg Prudius, Heidi Moneymaker, Aaron Ly

If you’re seeking a big, goofy love bug to complete your family, look no further than Sam. This 3-year-old brown and white Pointer mix is always eager to meet new people and lay his head against your chest to simply enjoy the contact. He’s an energetic guy, so he’ll need a large fenced-in yard where he can run, play, and enjoy in his favorite activity: rolling around on his back, giving his back a good scratch. He seems excited about the idea of playing with other dogs but isn’t particularly interested in cats. Sam likes kids, but he weighs 75 pounds and probably needs a household with only older children.

Her name says it all: Beauty. This solid black cat is as quiet and calm as she is pretty. She’s only 10 months old, but she already acts like a more mature kitty. She’s comfortable around other cats but prefers companions that are equally tranquil. The high energy of children makes her nervous, so she’s seeking a household that is going to provide her the calm atmosphere she loves. Beauty is sweet and affectionate, preferring gentle scratches and rubs to spirited playtime.
