Pets of the Week March 6, 2017

Simon says, “Look at this Frisbee!” Simon says, “Now throw it for me!” This adult-aged natural born entertainer isn’t a demanding dog, it’s all fun and games to him. He’s a 45 lb barrel of monkeys wanting an active family to call his own. This fella is a mix of Retriever and Terrier and his antics demonstrate the most fun traits of each. He often plays fetch with himself, throwing toys in the air and leaping to catch them, but having people to play with would more fun. Older children and any who are young at heart are right up this goofball’s alley. Visit Simon and you’ll see that every time he meets a new friend he can’t wait to start having a good time together! Simon says “Let’s get started!”

Kit Kat, patty whack, give her ear a rub, this sweet cat will give you love. Full of surprises, this 7-year young Oreo look-alike kitty will keep you laughing. You may think she’s fast asleep, but then she’ll suddenly somersault onto her back and chirp a few cat words to coax you into giving her a belly rub. Then she’ll peek at you through one of her honeydew melon green eyes and melodically purr to show you her satisfaction. Adoring of humans she is, but other kitties and dogs not so much. Visit your one true love who’s waiting in kitty condo number two.

Truman is a cat who truly needs rescuing. This former stray, black-and-white man-cat seems to have some emotional baggage. But his needs are real simple and require no effort. He needs to be given space. He needs your patience. He needs to be allowed to choose when and how he will be your friend. But, oh boy, once you pass his vetting process, you will have found an eternal soulmate who will offer nonstop affection and conversation. Consider adopting Truman and give him the chance to enjoy a full life on his terms.

Rosaline, what a dream. It seems that she had dreams of being a show dog because her resting stance is that of a Westminster Kennel Club champion. She enjoys prancing around the yard like a dancing queen while holding her favorite toy in her mouth. Her doggie ego prefers that she be the only pet in the family, but she sure does love people — the more the merrier. She’s not only a sight to behold, she would be a great walking buddy and indoor family friend.

Pets of the Week February 20, 2017

From Kane’s animated ice blue eyes to his bouffant tail, this 3 to 4-year-old Husky and Border Collie mix is chock full of personality and cheer. Handing out hugs to all and greeting you with multiple kisses, he’s everyone’s friend. Enjoy outdoor activities? He’ll love you even more! Hiking, ball chasing, long walks, you name it, enthusiastic Kane is game for all. A quick learner, an affectionate teddy bear, and an avid sportsman, Kane would make a fantastic companion for the active individual who also loves a big lap dog.

Glamorous as a 1940’s Hollywood starlet, Wren is as black as soot and as shiny as a million dollar diamond. This 1-year-old beauty walks with grace and sophistication, waving her long tail in the air as she leisurely struts by. With eyes as yellow as lemon meringue pie, she’ll tease you with a sweet side glance to lure you under her spell. Fully aware of her glamor and envied prestige, she wants to be the center of attention without other felines or pesky canines taking away her limelight. If you’re looking for a single lady to pamper and adore, Wren is a perfect choice.

John Wick: Chapter Two

John Wick 2 opens with John putting a pin on the Russian mob vendetta he began in the first movie.

This movie gets going when an old acquaintance calls in a favor John owes him. Things do not go quite as smooth as everyone hoped on their end. This leaves John with a larger vendetta than the first one.

The movie definitely sets up the final chapter in this trilogy.

I did enjoy this movie a good bit. I still think the first John Wick movie is better. But it had the good luck to introduce this world to me.

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Riccardo Scamarcio, Ian McShane, Ruby Rose, Common, Claudia Gerini, Laurence Fishburne

Pets of the Week February 13, 2017

Tail-wagging Wriggly is just cute! Wearing a buckskin brown coat, perky little ears, and a permanent grin, this 9-month-old Shepherd mix is a charmer. His good looks and athletic build will continue into adulthood as he grows to be a medium-sized dog. For now, he’s a floppy, uncoordinated pup who will put a smile on your face as he skips around the yard throwing toys in the air. When he’s done playing, he’ll want to lay his sweet little head in your lap and wriggle into your heart.

The lovely Twilight is a vision of cat sophistication. With algae green eyes, a black, brown, and white swirly coat, this classy lady wears Classic Tabby couture like no other. Shhhh, 1-year-old Twilight finds comfort in quietness, content with a soft bed or a window sill for resting and observing. While she appreciates human kindness, she is also wise to take time for herself, to reboot, and be a cozy and kind cat. Mild-mannered and polite, Twilight is an elegant and gentle companion.
