Pets of the Week November 16, 2015

Danimal
At less than one-year-old, Danimal is a darling Chihuahua and Terrier mix. Brought to the Animal Shelter for circumstances beyond his control, he was at first scared and nervous by the sudden change in his lifestyle. After some TLC, he quickly revealed his true personality. Like most young boys, he loves to play outside, loves having both people and doggie friends. Danimal has few demands. A toy or two, a cozy bed, and a scratch under the chin, and he is happy as a lark. He is patiently awaiting to once again have a home and share his life and love with others.

Kendra
With a faraway gaze, little Miss Kendra is the ultimate day dreamer. All the time that she’s spent with her head in the clouds has paid off, leaving her as gentle, plush, and soft as can be. Kendra’s short coat is patched grey and gold with watercolor artistry. At only one year old, her personality is purr-fectly peaceful and serene even with plenty of feline roommates. One can only imagine what this lovely young lady is pondering, as she sits in her favorite window; a cozy, quiet home full of comfy perches and sunny views outside, with a family always happy to cuddle. For now she sits patiently waiting at her lookout point for her new family to walk into her life and make this fanciful feline a true day dream believer.

Pets of the week November 9, 2015

Rico
This beautiful black and white American Pitbull mix has had setbacks in his life. Rico was adopted, but returned because his owner moved and couldn’t take him along. Now this sweet boy is awaiting his true forever home. He is one year young and filled with playful energy, but behaves with restraint around people, especially children, as if he knows he’s a big boy and needs to practice safety first. Like many dogs, he is not a good choice for a home with cats. Rico is smart and has learned sit and is working on his other commands. Rico needs a home and a large yard where he can play and run would be best, and he would be a great indoor and outdoor family dog. If you’re looking for a large, goofy dog who loves to cuddle, then Rico is the perfect pooch for you!

Zeelee
Zeelee is a four-month-old kitten with an unique name to match her unique personality. She is both a little shy and yet can be cheerfully playful. Will she scamper up and play with your shoelaces or will she stay where she is and play “hard to get?” Will she chase the toy you tossed her way or will she “duck and cover” under a blanket? It’s as if she feels cautious, but then remembers she’s a kitten! These very different behaviors make her a great blend of being not too rough and not too mellow, perfect for a family who wants a kitten who’s just right.

Pets of the Week November 2, 2015

Butch
Butch fits all the words that define his name — muscular, strong, and strapping. Yet amazingly he wasn’t the picture of health when he was found lost in Ware Shoals. He was emaciated, injured, and a bit timid, unsure of what would befall him next. And today he’s playful, happy, and affectionate, not looking back at his past, but hoping for a better tomorrow. Making up for lost time, Butch loves to play endlessly with his stuffed toys. And with his thick white coat, he looks a bit like a stuffed toy himself. The only thing Butch loves more than his toys is food. Given his physical condition when he came to the animal shelter, it’s no wonder that he joyfully partakes in regular meals. He has a lot of energy, is eager to please, and learning quite admirably how to leash walk. Meet Butch and see why this big strong “teddy bear” of a dog is the perfect addition to your home.

Simon
At only four-weeks-old, Simon and his brother were found stray in Ninety Six. Living in foster care, where they both could stay healthy and stress-free, they returned to the animal shelter to be adopted. Simon’s brother quickly left for a new home and now Simon patiently awaits the same. Don’t feel sorry for this two-toned black and silver fluff bug, he has a good time anywhere and everywhere he is. He enjoys playing with toys, but mostly he wants to give and receive affection. A gentle stroke of his plush coat or a cuddle and a hug, and he’ll reward the kindness with a soothing purr, a head butt and returned hug. He has rather big paws for a five-month-old youngster, so he is probably going to grow up to be a big boy, which means there will be more of him to love and be loved by!

Pets of the Week October 26, 2015

Calvin
If dogs could be professional models, then Calvin would be a highly-paid superstar! With his striking slate blue-colored eyes and luxuriantly soft brindle fur, this 2-year-old Shepherd mix catches ?everyone’s attention. ?Although he resembles a Dutch Shepherd, his heritage is not 100% confirmed. What is known is that his DNA mixture has created a perfect pooch who is as sweet and silly as he is ?stunningly handsome. ?P?roof of his silliness is that his most favorite things in the world are his toys. “There is never enough time in the day for play,” he says. Calvin ?is a great walking or running buddy and his playful antics will surely keep you and your family entertained? for many years to come?.

Susie Q
Susie Q can be described in two words: love, people. She loves people! She loves being around them, sitting on or with them, being petted by them. She’s the perfect pick-me-up friend who ?holds no judgment of others, only acceptance. She gets along with other cats but, to be honest, really loves people. This beautiful?, stocky? gray tabby is two years old is always on the move looking for new people friends. Once one has been found, she perches happily on their lap or lounges in their arms, blissfully purring? a sweet love song?. Susie Q would be great for any kind of family, large or small, with children or without, as long as she’s allowed to be with people.

Pets of the Week October 17, 2015

Pluto
What comes to mind when you hear “Pluto?” Chances are it’s either the once-planet or Disney’s well-known best friend of Mickey Mouse. Oddly enough, Pluto the Shepherd mix seems to have a little something in common with both namesakes. Much like the once-planet, at only 50 lbs, Pluto is not quite large enough to qualify for his breed type. This guy is just a little shy of the weight of some of his larger purebred cousins, which makes him an excellent dog for those who want the shepherd breed qualities, without the shepherd breed size! And much like Pluto the cartoon dog, our beautiful black and tan Pluto just wants to be someones best friend. Pluto loves people and is happiest when he’s with someone. He has exceptional leash manners and is very well-behaved when it’s time for a walk. At one-year-old, he’s passed the larger part of his puppyhood, but still has some overflowing exuberance. So Pluto’s perfect family would be one willing to give him that extra bit of attention and to help him finish learning puppy manners. Pluto also loves other dogs and would fit right in to a new family’s “pack.” Hurry and come meet Pluto today and see why this guy is your new best friend in waiting.

Piper
Found as a stray kitten in August, sweet and curious Piper has determined to take finding her new home into her “own paws.” Whenever the door to her kennel is opened, Piper parades out and starts socializing with any person or pet she sees along the way. Never pushy, she quietly asks for cuddles and love and is never cross when scooped up and placed back inside her shelter cage. Though she acts rather grown up for a kitten of six months, she still has a goofy side! She loves toys and absolutely loves to explore. Piper gets along with other cats and people of all ages. Her quiet presence would be the perfect addition to any house. So don’t wait! Meet and pet on Piper today and let her work her charms on you!
