Fright Night, 2011

While I did not think Fright Night needed a remake, I was pleasantly surprised by this modernization of a classic vampire film.

With the newer version, we get a believable scenario of a vampire’s hunting ground, an update on the horror movie host, a more ferocious vampire, I just really liked the update.

Anton Yelchin played Charlie Brewster very well. From this “loser” kid who got in with the popular crowd who diched his quirky friends to manning up to fight Jerry Dandridge, Yelchin gave a wonderful performance.

TL;DR Fun Action Romp. The Mechanic is a bit of a Gary Stu character, but stuff blowed up real good

Pets of the Week September 5, 2016

BarleyBarley’s chestnut red coat, swinging pendulum ears, and expressive, golden eyes will take your breath away. Tenderhearted and known as the gentleman with the soft kisses, he never imposes, but lightly leans on you when he longs for a heartfelt hug. True to the Hound he is, this 5 year old also has a fun, inquisitive side that loves to explore using his superior sense of smell. After all of his expeditions, he exuberantly tells to you about his discoveries. The best of both worlds, he’s the perfect companion for curling up with a good book or trekking through the wilderness for fun and adventure.

Jilly4-month-old Jilly wears a coat of many colors and looks stunning doing so. This Calico Tabby girl knows she’s one of a kind, but she hasn’t let her beauty go to her head. She’s big-hearted and lets you know with her sweet meows and loud purrs that you, too, are special. A friend to everyone and a foe to none, Jilly is quite amiable with a delightful disposition. This charming young lady would love for you to stop by and visit her at Petsmart in Greenwood.

Don’t Breathe

Official Site: DontBreathe-Movie.com

Starring: Stephen Lang, Jane Levy, Dylan Minnette, Daniel Zovatto

dontbreath2Don’t Breathe opens on 3 young adults, Rocky, Alex & Money burgling a residence in Detroit. It is shown that they are using keys and security codes from the home security company where Alex’s father works. Alex is constantly warning about how much to take to keep the crime from becoming a felony. They are given information on a potentially large score: a blind man who received a large settlement after his daughter was killed in an auto accident. We get a little character development on the 3 youths as to why they would risk going after a large score. Rocky and Money are going to go to California with Rocky’s daughter. Alex decides he will go with them. We see he is hopelessly pining after Rocky.

The 3 youths break in to the house and promptly realize they picked the wrong house to break in to. I forgot to mention the blind man served in the military until he was blinded. What follows is a long fight to escape the house with or without the cash.

TL;DR Fun movie to watch with a crowd. You will empathize with the blind man, then the burglars, then the blind man again, then the burglars…
