Pets of the Week January 1, 2018

If you’re seeking a big, goofy love bug to complete your family, look no further than Sam. This 3-year-old brown and white Pointer mix is always eager to meet new people and lay his head against your chest to simply enjoy the contact. He’s an energetic guy, so he’ll need a large fenced-in yard where he can run, play, and enjoy in his favorite activity: rolling around on his back, giving his back a good scratch. He seems excited about the idea of playing with other dogs but isn’t particularly interested in cats. Sam likes kids, but he weighs 75 pounds and probably needs a household with only older children.

Her name says it all: Beauty. This solid black cat is as quiet and calm as she is pretty. She’s only 10 months old, but she already acts like a more mature kitty. She’s comfortable around other cats but prefers companions that are equally tranquil. The high energy of children makes her nervous, so she’s seeking a household that is going to provide her the calm atmosphere she loves. Beauty is sweet and affectionate, preferring gentle scratches and rubs to spirited playtime.

Pets of the Week December 25, 2017

Petunia’s as lovely as a flower, but don’t be fooled into thinking she’s just a pretty face—she’s equally intelligent. A recent graduate of the Pawsitive Prison Program at Leath Correctional Institution, she now knows over 20 commands, including Get Dressed, High Five, Go to Sleep, and Heel. She’s a fast learner and more than willing to add to her repertoire, especially if she’s rewarded with her favorite treat: popcorn. Petunia is a 1-year-old, hefty medium-sized, black and white, Terrier mix who’s looking for a forever home where she can run, play ball, take long walks, and bask in the sun. And when she’s worn off her excess energy, she’s ready to snuggle up and shower you with love.

Selena is named after the Greek Moon Goddess, Selene, and this gorgeous Tortoiseshell kitty truly shines. She’s only 6 months old, so she loves to spend time batting around her toys, especially the catnip mice, but she can be just as laid back as she is playful, quite often content to simply relax in a favorite spot. She likes companions, so she’ll be more than happy to join a family that has other cats. Selena already weighs about 7 pounds, so she’s likely to be on the larger size, but that’s just more to love. Her beauty is unmistakable, an enchanting mixture of black, orange, and creamy white, but it’s her charisma that will ultimately cast you under her spell.

Pets of the Week December 18, 2017

If you’re looking for a high-energy canine companion who will run around the yard chasing tennis balls and happily barking at the resident squirrels, Cooper is your dog. This large, 1-year-old Labrador Retriever/Boxer mix is a spirited fellow who’s eager to start learning any commands you wish to teach him, and just as lovable as he is exuberant, readily offering his undying affection. To round out his perfection, he’s truly handsome sporting a coppery-brown coat that gleams in the sunshine. He’s also shown a real desire to make friends with the pups he’s come into contact with, so he should be well-suited to a home with another dog and a large fenced-in yard.

With his sleek beauty and sophisticated air, Stephan looks like he belongs in a James Bond movie. This 2-year-old short-haired cat sports a shiny black coat with just a touch of white on his chest, bringing to mind a classy black tuxedo. His bright, direct gaze is a perfect indicator of his cool, serene demeanor. Stephan is a self-possessed and supremely confident cat. He wants the freedom to redecorate his space to his own liking and responds well to attention on his terms. And since he’s a rather large cat and isn’t particularly fond of being carried around, he would be happiest in a home without small children who might be tempted.

Pets of the Week December 11, 2017

With a smile as wide as a country mile, Lenny is as intelligent and well-behaved as he is sweet and affectionate. This 2-year-old Boxer/Retriever mix is a recent graduate of the Pawsitive Prison Program, where he learned over 20 commands, including Get Dressed, Go to Bed, Give Kisses, and much more. Although he loves to run and play, he’s also very laid back, indoors or out, always willing to settle down for a snuggle. Lenny learns quickly and understands boundaries quite well once established. He has a huge amount of love to give, to both people and other dogs, making him the ideal companion.

This gorgeous Calico kitty is an exotic beauty with a quiet demeanor and captivating gaze. Jing Jing is about 4 years old, so she’s past the high-energy kitten stage and prefers to spend her time snoozing in a favorite comfy spot. She enjoys being pampered and will offer you a flirtatious glance of her stunningly green eyes as reward and appreciation. Her coat, as beautiful as her personality, is a striking mixture of deep black, rich orange, and snowy white. Jing Jing is happy to share her space with just about anyone, including children and other cats. And her serene disposition is infectious, creating a sense of calm wherever she goes.

Pets of the Week December 4, 2017

The name Lena has Greek origins, meaning light, shining, or alluring. And like the Greek goddesses of old, this medium-sized Retriever and Terrier mix radiates beauty and charm. At just over a year old, she’s full of energy, but more than anything, she’s overflowing with love. Lena will captivate you from the moment you see her sweet, smiling face. Her snowy white coat, decorated with a splash of light brown across her right eye, will have everyone stopping to admire her, and her personality is as lovely as her appearance. She’d be delighted to find a forever home with kids, other dogs, or even cats.

This high-spirited little kitty is just as fun-loving as the theatrical character from “Chicago” with the same name. Roxie is only 5 months old, so she’s prepared to bring many years of laughter into your life. And she’s sure to do just that, whether she’s chasing her favorite toys around the living room or wrestling with a fellow feline. She’s even shown an interest in making doggy friends, so a wide variety of households would make her happy. Roxie is a beautiful brown, black, and white Tabby with an absolutely adorable face and enough charisma to turn even a life-long “dog person” into an immediate cat lover.
